8 Reviews of the Kelmarsh
By: Andrew + Amanda Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
We really like this tent, its compacted and value for money, we bought ours from Millets and they were brilliant, our tent has gone through gale force winds in the black mountains, and massive down pours in Cornwall, and survived. My only criticism is the the poorly fitting ground sheet in the living area of the tent

How anyone can even consider this tent to be value for money is beyond me!
I purchased this tent a year ago and travelled down to the south coast for bank holiday weekend. Once there I started to realise that bits were missing and many of the toggles had broken off. I also noticed dirt all over the ground sheet and it became apparent that this tent had been returned previously. We managed to bodge it and get it to stay up although it was hit and miss in high winds. We took the tent back and were given a replacement which we immediately checked all the parts but unfortunately we did not bother to open up the fly sheet or inner tent as they were nicely packaged and obviously new.
This turned out to be a vital mistake as firstly the inner tent has a hole in the top of it so is far from effective in preventing insects entering and also another hole is forming where the toggle holds the inner tent out to the fly sheet. This hole opened up the second the toggle was inserted for the tents first ever use, doesn't exactly show promise of lasting long!
Things got from bad to worse as one of the toggles ripped clean off the fly sheet with no force whatsoever. Then to top things off one of the poles shattered(similar to another review) This causeed the structure to collapse slightly and all our bedding got soaked leading to an extremely uncomfortable sleep (or lack of sleep).
In a nutshell; the quality of this tent is extremely bad and for anyone to rate it highly after taking theirs back just because it is cheap completely baffles me. £100 is not cheap for something which you can get one use out of! My situation is made worse simply because I have misplaced my receipt so I am now stuck with a gigantic tent which is little use to anyone! Which reminds me of another thing; How on earth did such a big tent fit in the bag before we used it? I think it needs to go through a trouser press to get it back in!

This is very fiddly to put up and take down. I bought it as an 'easier-and-quicker-to-put-up' alternative to my polycotton tent. And it isn't! Poor quality too. I returned it to Millets straight away .

FANTASTIC! Up in 10 mins, plenty of space, full ground sheet, lots of storage pouches.
We have just done a 5 nighter (2 of which were the worst I have ever camped in)!
Heavy wind and rain and not a single drip.
The ground sheet idea is really good giving a very good waterproof seal.
£120 well spent.

Got this tent to replace smaller tent since other half prefers to have some 'living' space (doesn't understand the term, trekking :p).
Very easy to pitch and was up in about 10 mins, as mentioned before the ground sheet clips 'up' in the living area to prevent wind & rain getting in.
Lots of storage areas and pockets come in the Kelmarsh.
Can highly recommend this tent to any beginners and those who want some space when camping.

Recently had to take one of these back to Millets as one of the lower poles disintegrated while we were pitching it down in Cornwall last weekend. Without any spares we had to suck it and see, and despite horrendous weather conditions the tent held up (although it was a little scary at times!)
Both times we've been out in it the weather has been horendous and it has held up well, although we did suffer some leakage during heavy rain.
Millets have been absolute stars and refunded us without any problems whatsoever, and I will have no hesitation in going back there again. We will use the opportunity to take a step up in quality and will go for something like the Outwell Minnesota which has the advantage of a sown in ground sheet and steel poles (don't want to get caught out with broken poles again!).
Why am I giving this tent 8 stars despite returning it you may ask? Well, for under £100 this tent is an absolute bargain, and where tents are concerned you definitely get what you pay for. One final thing, for the extra £30 you might want to also consider the Sandringham with it's extra floorspace.

This is a fab tent, easy to put up and plenty of space inside. The one downside is we are still having trouble working out exactly where to fix the 'outer' groundsheet to stop the rain coming in (although we have not camped in the rain yet but I'm very sure we will.) and soaking everything sitting on it - we probably just haven't done it right but we'll get there! It is very practical and has plenty of pockets and has plenty of space inside! A very reasonable buy at £100 and highly recommended

This tent is brilliant, and we would recommend it to anyone who hasn't owned a tent before, or even if you have. Its very easy to erect,(We've done it in approx 15 minutes, in wind and rain)! Its light and airy, and looks good. Various shades of green and cream, with green florescent guy ropes. Lots of pockets, for storage, sewn in curtains, and a side entrance, as well as a front awning. Also good height to walk into. We had two days of torrential rain, and it leaked a very tiny amount, just on the one door zip. The ground sheet actually fastens 'up' onto the bottom sides of the tent, so no rainwater leaked in onto the floor space .It stood up really well, considering. Have owned this tent for 6 weeks, (our 2nd) but will be keeping it for a long time.Great buy at around £100. Highly recommended, and honest good value for money.
