6 Reviews of the Stour

Further to my earlier review, just got back from a 2 week stay at Kandersteg Int'l. Scout Site in Switzerland. Apparently it is the wettest summer in living memory and rained on and off through out our stay. The Stour was brilliant, shame it is discontinued. However, I was pitched next to a Coleman Tasman 3 which is virtually identical in size and spec. And was home for 3 Explorer Scouts. Their tent was brilliant too, so if you can no longer get a Stour, get a Tasman!

I'm often camping with the Scout Group and wanted my own small tent that I knew would be clean and in good working order. As either or both of my own children might be with me, it had to be big enough to accommodate them as well. This tent is compact to transport and simple and quick to set up. We easily fit in the bedroom area with our self inflating mats and the porch is very roomy for our gear and small cooker. It's not the sort of tent you can stand up in, but then again, why would you want to stand around in it with Cubs and Scouts running around outside? I must have used it 15 to 20 times by now and have yet to use all of the guy lines. It's lasted exceptionally well and is my home from home on Scout sites. Long may it live on. The picture was taken at Broadstone Warren a couple of years ago.

This is the first tent I got,Had this for about three years now. Never had a problem, have used it in strong wind pouring rain and no, complaints to make. It's a good size for two people, I I think that the space is too small to try and get a third person in there. The porch area is spacious and in the bed area there are pockets for torches sweets and other useful bits.

I bought this tent to use whilst camping on my own usually in the New Forest. Masses of room for myself although it would be cosy if 3 were to use it.
I have used it in rain, wind and sunshine and it ticks all the boxes for me. The porch is quite large for the size of tent but the space is invaluable for wet cloths, boots etc.
The one criticism I do have and its more a niggle than a moan, is getting the outer skin of the tent fitting evenly around the bottom edge of the porch. It has never caused a problem regarding performance, but sometimes the porch can look a little lopsided when erected. All in all though a very nice tent

We bought one from Millets and went to Cumbria in it and stayed on a cliff top in September so we tested the gale force wind theory, which in hindsight wasn't a good idea! The tent stayed up for the whole night even though it was pouring rain, the ground was boggy and the wind never let up. The tent started to move a little with the wind but I think that was to be expected. The tent was really spacious with enough room for an airbed in the main 'room'. The porch was lovely as you can shut the doors and still cook inside or if it is sunny (chance would of been a fine thing!) you can roll up the doors and enjoy the weather. Lots of space but I think getting 3 people in it would be a struggle. Lots of handy pockets and the windows were a nice touch too. I would say it is an investment and would recommend, though not for 3 people.

This is my first tent. This year will be my third season and I cant wait to get camping again. Its a fab tent which has seen me through holidays in Cornwall and 4 festivals. It can withstand gale force wind and rain (trust me!) and has good ventilation on the weekends we actually get sunshine! The spacious porch is increadably usefull, and inside there are plenty of pockets and useful torch ceiling hook. I love it!
