3 Reviews of the Ferrino Omega 5 SS11

These are an excellent tent, quite roomy. We bought one new from Decathlon for a camping trip to Brixham. Went up in no time (in the dark & rain. It was completely watertight, but draughty through the snow flaps. We actually bought a separate Hi Gear canopy which was brilliant, this gave us more room for the kitchen. Unfortunately during our trip I went to a camping retailer and bought a Triumph 800 at a knockdown price. But I gave the Omega 5 to my daughter who is over the moon with her new tent.

Agree with JTC45. We are also new-ish to camping and this was our first family tent. We bought it as it was cheap in Decathlon and huge! Husband is 6 ft 2 and he can stand up in it. Yes, it takes a little while to put up but the more you do it. We've not camped in torrential rain yet and wondered how the lack of groundsheet for the main living area would stand up. There was a lot of condensation on the inside of the tent each morning but this quickly dried out in the wind and sun. The fabric seemed ok but there were one or two little flaws in ours which could be weakness.

The size was really beneficial on cold, wet days when we cooked and ate inside easily. We also take too much junk with us on camping trips and there was loads of room for that, too.

We have friends who all bought the same tent and it seems to have worked well for everyone so far. We've done two trips this year. My main gripes are that the instructions aren't brilliant, we needed more pegs than came with the tent and I can't lift the tent bag by myself if the poles are in it!

This is our second tent after only starting camping last year. Still unsure of whether camping is for us, the OH picked this tent up on a special offer at Decathlon.

Its a 4 pole tunnel tent with 2 steel tensioning poles inside and 2 bedroom pods sleeping 3 and 2.

I was very anxious about the capabilities of the tent due to no reviews being listed anywhere.

We struggled a bit getting the tent up, largely due to high winds (~25mph) and a toddler running around, but once up it stayed up and watertight for our 4 night trip, including one very wet and windy night.

It is very roomy compared to similar berths (480 x 350cm). The living area had room for shelves, table, 3 chairs, play area and luggage. The larger bedroom fit 2 single airbeds with space to walk around the edges. Bedrooms have storage pockets on the sides.

There are entrances on each side, and the front section can unzip and be placed at the next pole in to create a porch.

The biggest downside in my opinion is the lack of windows. There are 4 exterior roll back mesh windows higher up in the sides and the front door can zip back with mesh again. But on wet and windy days, we couldn't use these and I couldn't see out!

The other downside was there was no groundsheet included.

Overall we were impressed though (admittedly not much to compare to) and are looking forward to next trip.
