3 Reviews of the Freedom Trail Eskdale 8

We looked at a lot of tents from various suppliers
We saw this tent in go outdoors and was really impressed with the price as being on a budget
We wanted a tent with headroom to get ready in and there is ample space. Being 2 couples first time we had one side and they had the other. With the sleeping rooms being private you can have a cuddle when it is cold ;)
The fabric is a little thin for the middle compartment so does condensate a little but ok
First time putting up took 30 minutes, but if you lay out the poles to the colours can be put up in 15 minutes.
The bag it comes in can be slightly tight to repack
We have only had one problem in an campsite for it being to long for the pitch (jobsworth person) but a few of cable ties between two poles on the middle compartment and bringing them together made it to the size of the pitch. Did loose one door but was okay
Have been using for 6 seasons and has been a great purchase

Purchased this from go outdoors and its fantastic. Previous tent was a 4 man but when you used the sleeping pods they were only practical for 1 person not 2 at each end. We bought this one instead and its amazing. My husband who is 6ft myself and our 5yr old can sleep happily in one large pod without being cramped.
We use a single pod at the other side for our toilet and the space left at that end becomes our kitchen area.
Plenty room in the middle we have a 4 seat table and there was still room for a full size picnic blanket and 2 deckchairs .
Used this last weekend for bank holiday in wooler and experienced some of the worst rain . Torrential and had to shout to each other to make ourselves heard. We stayed dry throughout. No leaks no rivers running under the sides or doors of the tent. To top it all, the way the groundsheet sits with a 4' lip it keeps draughts out and the heat in.
Fantastic tent!

Very easy to put up, even for first timers, and great build quality.
Totally secure in quite heavy wind and very heavy rain. Gets very warm when the sun is out, though, so the vents are very useful when this happens! It dries out very quickly.
The tent can quite happily accommodate 4 BIG adults, or two families of four, eg 4 adults and 4 children. More than enough living area headroom (I am 6 ` 2' and I had headroom to spare. The bedrooms required me to bend my head a little which was fine, but I could still stand up.
A great tent, which is normally sold for £250, but currently Go Outdoors are selling it for £79.99 (August 2012) - get one now as this is a REAL BARGAIN!
I did, and am chuffed to bits!

Manufacturer's Description
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/eskdale-8-p179056
If you''re new to family camping or just want a straight-forward 8 man tent that''s excellent value for money, take a look at the Eskdale 8.
The Freedom Trail Eskdale 8 is a functional family tent with lots of space but without the extra details of more expensive models.
The large central living space has full-width bedroom (which can be sub-divided) to one side and a pair of smaller rooms to the other, with external doors and windows on both sides. A removable flat groundsheet covers the living area and helps to keep things clean inside.
The fibreglass poles slip through roof pole sleeves and are retained with ring and pin fittings to make pitching easier. Pole clips attach the flysheet to the poles and help to stop the tent flapping in windy conditions.
A vent behind each bedroom allows air to flow through the length of the tent, reducing condensation. In sunny weather the doors can be rolled up out of the way or converted into an awning with the included porch poles.
Roomy, practical and fun, the Eskdale 8 is a simple solution for family and group camps.
A great Family Tent for first time campers Two equal-sized bedrooms Large living area with two exits Easy to pitch
