2 Reviews of the Freedom Trail Ullswater 4

We bought a second hand on on Ebay for just under £50.00 and its a fantastic weekend tent.
We use it as a two berth tent and pop in two full size camp beds, on the rare occasion our son sleeps in the tent with us we use 3 full size 10cm self inflating mattresses and we all fit in. (There is no way you can fit 4 people / 4 kids maybe)
Its really easy to erect, three of us can have the tent fully pitched in around 25-30 minutes - Instructions are sown into the bag so you don't loose them.
Been in the tent in very wind wet conditions and it held its own - We like the bathtub ground sheet which if fitted correctly keeps water and most crawling bugs out.
Overall we rate this 8 out of 10 and an ideal weekend tent, if you looking for a cheap weekend tent then a used one of these is worth considering.

This tent is very easy and quick to pitch, only 20 mins even in bad weather. It provides plenty of room for 2 people, would be quite a squeeze for four especially if the weather is bad.
The sleeping area is well ventilated and has pockets for books torches etc. The living area gives plenty of room for sitting & eating. However cooking needs to be done outside or in the doorway but this leaves the chef out in the elements. The door could provide shelter if it were supported on poles.
The tent is a tunnel design and remarkably strong. It withstood gusts of 50mph on Skye! It didnt let in any rain either (hydrostatic head 1500).
It needs a mesh front door for ventilation without midges. The side window flaps would be better on the inside, we had to venture out into the rain to roll up the flaps & see out. The bathtub groundsheet has a tendency to flatten out if you put things too close to the edge and then it lets water in if it rains. The gap around the bottom of the fly sheet also allows all manner of beasties to get in. Despite these few gripes it is an excellent tent for first timers.
