9 Reviews of the Beyond Starview 5

Absolute nightmare in anything above a slight breeze ! In a strong wind the poles bend alarmingly and the whole tent balloons in and out giving the impression it will rip the fabric very easily.
Rain enters through the tent in a very fine spray and mist too.
The front window is strange. There's the window itself which is held in place by 2 very small velcro strips. Then the curtain which folds up from the bottom and attaches to 3 hoops at the top. Then you have an inner mesh which had zips which fully sandwich the curtain between the window and the mesh. How you close the curtain without the whole front of the tent being exposed to the elements is anyone's guess !
In perfect weather - zero wind and rain the tent's fine but I definitely wouldn't recommend this tent unless it had much stronger poles that don't bend like they do in the wind.

We are fairly new to camping, last year we had our first outings in a second hand tent we bought from Ebay. We liked it so much that we went out and bought two new tents, a large tent (Morpheus 8) and the Starview 5 for short stay trips.
We had a go at putting this up in the garden and even in limited space this was very easy to put up. It only took 2 of us approx 15 mins. After reading one of the reviews we decided to leave the pods up inside the tent when we packed it away. Putting the tent up with the pods in made it a lot easier to get the tensions right and make sure that we were not pegging the tent out too tightly.
Our first trip away with it and again it was very easy to put in, even in the wind but we did not try to put the canopy up, didn't want to risk it. The Carpet in the living area made the tent nice and snug, there was also plenty of space for a large table and four chairs. Bedrooms were very roomy, we had a queen size air bed in one with space round the sides and a single bed plus Wardrobe in the other.
Can't say anything bad about this tent, we had no problems with it, no leaks, no issues. Would definitely recommend it.

Bought this as a treat for me n my son going camping last summer(2011) I own 4 tents of different shapes and sizes! overall it is very roomy with good headroom the living area is large as is the bedrooms. Lots of natural light can get in as plenty windows, which I love. It was easy to put up myself, and is a sturdy tent. Only downside of the tent was that it started leaking when it was raining from one of the side doors which was a bit off putting but other than that it will be my choice of tent from now on as I can pitch it myself, Vango diablo 600 a bit on large side. We will see how it copes when the four of use it!

Purchased this to replace a faulty leaking Hi-Gear Mojave 5. The tent quality is far superior to the Mojave 5, from the poles through to the matching fabric of the bedrooms and curtains. The tent is easy to erect in under 30 minutes, and has lots of extra features such as a canopy over one of the side doors and it has a light roof fabric over the living area that provides lots of natural light. The living area is plenty big enough for a table and chairs and the matching canopy provides additional space for cooking and storage. We have used the Mojave 5 carpet for the tent which fits perfectly. Overall we are very impressed with this tent, we feel much more comfortable with this tent than the previous one and we can't wait to camp in it again!

Firstly I've had many tents! last one was a Outwell Oregon 5 which I shall base many of my comparisons on. When the tent arrived I noticed that the bag did not look to be too strong, adequate, but without the strengthening straps of my Outwell, not too much of a problem as the bag is pretty big. 1st solo pitch in the garden was done in 35mins in good weather conditions (would be a very easy pitch with 2 people). Guys and Guy points seem strong (although I did like the fluorescent ones on the Outwell) takes 5 mins adjusting guys to get the tent nice and ripple free if your fussy like me. Bedrooms will be left in for the next pitch to make life easier, large bedroom is roomy and spacious for 2 adults and the same for the smaller one for my kids, 2 adults in the smaller one could be done comfortable but without any equipment (double airbed size).
A great plus was the kids tent from my Outwell fitted in with a few small mods so all good. Zips are good but sometimes grab the outer sheet when zipping. Taking down took me 20mins. Room inside was good, enough for me and my two kids (3 and 5) a table and all our gear comfortably. As usual it would be a squeeze for 5 adults!
1st impression is I'm pleased with the tent and although not as well made as an Outwell, for £250 inc. Canopy, carpet and Footprint it is certainly better value for money than an expensive Outwell alternative. Entrances to the tent have quite high mud valences, this can be minimised by making sure all the straps at the pegging points at the bottom of the poles are pulled tight! this is also vital if you don't want your tent flapping saggy in the wind. Overall its got all the features of a top end tent that function well but my Outwell is better made although I think Outwell are overpriced! More to follow after this weekends camping trip with rain forecast!

Bought this tent on the Sunday have just got back from a two day trip.It looks like a lot of thought has gone into the design of the tent. Two bedrooms a single one and a double so to speak. And simple things like a vent pocket either side for your hook up to feed through and little signs of warning you of a trip hazard just above the floor on the side of the walls . First nights sleep woke up and no condensation whatsoever second day we had 3.5 hours of rain heavy at times and had absolutely no problem with ventilation or condensation. It took us 50 minutes to put up but we have only had about 5 camping outings 40 minutes to take down this is including the canopy. And this is the first time with a larger tent it is 1.5 times bigger than our supposedly 6 man Aztec terreno 6. There is loads of room.
We got the beyond star view 5 canopy thrown in for free so there was even more room. One downside is the tent pegs seem cheap and easily bend but overall we think it's great.

Yes agree fairly easy to put up and take down , but oh dear what a nightmare spending a night in heavy rain and strong winds at Oban 2010 Sept . This tent bent so much didn't think going to survive the night and bad with condensation , same nightmare on Isle of Mull nearly blew away no faith in this one tent at all we had to move into a static van , overall this tent is no good in a good stiff breeze even .

This is a fantastic tent: easy to erect, plenty of useful space, comfortable and well-thought out. There is very good ventilation and the openings on three sides mean that it is easy to get a good flow of air on a hot day. On its first outing we had a night of torrential rain and two days of strong winds, and it kept us cosy and warm throughout. I would recommend it to anyone.

Got this tent this year and love it.Very wide and large opening at the front gives a feeling of space. The 2 bedrooms are separate. There is plenty of ventilation and doors. The footprint and carpet are a useful addition. The tent erects quickly, we put it up in 30 minutes start to finish on our 1st attempt and it packed away quickly and easily as well. This tent is far superior to our old tent which was a Attwooll Bilbury and I think we will be having many happy camping trips with it. Well done Gelert
