3 Reviews of the Bliss 4

I presume this is a 2014 model as purchased May this year but note from other sites it may be 2013. Saw it up on display and impressed with the size, height, price and the canopy which means we no longer have to put up an extension as well. I have been putting my kitchen in the canopy giving us more space in the living area. We bought for use by two of us and agree it is not really suitable for four. However, we took our two grandchildren (12 and 10) away for three nights and managed to all fit in, even if a bit snug. When on our own we use a double height double airbed and this still leaves us with plenty of room either side for bags. We were looking for a tent that was easy to put up and this is the case. We have camped for over 30 years and have owned quite a number of tents and this one compares well, even with Outwell and Vango tents we've owned. One of our main gripes is there is no mesh on the front door and can't understand this being omitted. Would have only cost a small amount at time of manufacture. We have got round this by purchasing some mesh and attach around the door with small clamps. We haven't had some of the problems other reviewers have had, however, one of the poles shattered after a really bad windy day, made worse by the fact we were in a very exposed position. Not really Gelert's fault. Though if we had had Vango's tension band system it may not have happened. I have now devised my own tension band system and this will alleviate the problem, which is a known problem with tunnel tents and a local store repaired the pole for us. I am impressed with the colour and have had many compliments from other campers and the darkened bedrooms do help in the early morning. 5000 hydrostatic static head is impressive for the price we paid and certainly stood up to it in a heavy downpour. All in all good value for money.

We bought this as we wanted a tent to stand up in and liked the idea of an attached canopy. Lovely tent with good touches, but during our second week of use the material at the front corner of the porch ripped. We decided to nip home and get our old tent to prevent further damage, but when we returned two hours later, the stitching connecting the tent to the peg at the same corner had come loose and the tent was flapping in the breeze. We returned our tent,(very easily thanks to the store's display model having the same problem!) and have now changed to a different make. The canopy idea is great, but there is nowhere for any wind to escape and the corners could do with reinforcing as well as stronger stitching. As I said, a great tent, but some improvements need to be made.

This is our 5th tent (not as a replacement - we have the Zenobia 6 (family tent) Gellert Tornado 5 (previous couple weekend tent) and a couple of little ones - this was specifically bought as a weekend couple tent that we could stand up in.

Bad points: We pitched it in the garden fine - took it out last weekend, and one of the metal pole attachments sprang open (thankfully we had a spare - but not the wire to re-thread the poles so had to tape them together) - Hoping this is a one off and not a sign of them all going like this (see Gellert Bliss 6 review!)

Also a bit of crummy stitching in the inner pod . Am hoping it won't rip as nylon is a sod to mend.

Its not a four man tent unless you want to throw yourselves onto a bed from the inner part . But it's fab for a couple who want space.

Good points - the height! yay finally a smaller tent that you can stand up in and cook breakfast without ending up with a bad back at the end of your weekend. Plus the attached porch - so no more having to remember the porch. Folds down small - also good. Lots of inner mesh - for keeping cool. I really like it - it was a bit on the expensive side . But that appears to be the norm for tents with the integral porch extension.
