4 Reviews of the Bourne Summer House

A complete waste of money for the negative comments already mentioned by previous reviewers. This 'tent' is only good when the weather is warm, dry and windless. We have only used this on 2 occasions and abandoned it both times. Have since donated it to a school as a play tent to be used in good weather on their sports day.

We bought this tent as we often camp with friends and thought it would be nice to have a separate area to live in as our tent is not very roomy. It does the job and stayed put during a few windy nights.
The draw back is the design of the tent. The flaps on the side's of the tent which do not open are not long enough to reach the ground so when it rained it came through the mosquito net and hit the inner waterproof flap, it then ran down this, dripped off and onto the tent floor.
Its not a major problem but annoying as it could have been designed better. Just ensure you pick everything up off the floor before going to bed!

We also brought the BSH for the same reason as above, but there are only two of us and our dog. We already own a Gelert tent so that's one of the reason we opted for this.
Easy to pitch and manoeuvre whilst not pegged down, plenty of headroom, nice and bright when all the flaps are rolled up. Versatile openings. So if you need to you can close all the sides but have all the flaps open, stops flies but is very light and airy.
Our dog also settled down better in the evening once inside as he had loads of room and could be let off his lead, he was a bit restless in our tent as it was very easy to step on his beloved tail, lol
We did actually cook in it as well, didn't intend to but the weather was so wet and windy so we had no choice. We were in N.Yorks for 2 nights, 1st and 2nd Sept and we had to pitch in a thunder and lightening storm, the weather didn't get much better for the 2 days we were there. We had horrendous rain and winds the second night, we thought the tent would take off, but it didn't. It rained for over 12 hours and although the tent didn't leak, the seams above the openings were just starting to drip slightly.
The only other downside, was as the rain was so hard it was coming through the mesh sides so we had to close the flaps and as the two side flaps were a shorter length to the actual side of the tent the rain dripped down onto the groundsheet, but not on the two sides that open but they do peg down either side to stop them blowing about though.
But it stayed put in the severe weather we had, didn't leak on the main parts. But we are going to waterproof all the seams once we have got it dried out.
I am sure if we had just had a couple of rain showers we wouldn't of had a problem at all.
So overall we are very pleased with it and as we had to cut our holiday short due to very bad weather we will take it away again next week!
Definitely a good buy and would recommend. We got ours for £86 from Outdoormania, but I see that Campmania also has them at £89.99 at the moment.

After going away as a group of friends (couples, sometimes with kids) and struggling to all fit under shelter from the rain in one of our tents we thought we'd look for a decent gazebo.
We came across the Gelert Bourne Summer House which looked like a decent sized space, solid and hopefully waterproof.
This extra space is very roomy and has plenty of headroom and even the tallest wont have trouble standing. We have so far tested it as 4 of us, but could easily fit twice that amount in.
It has two different types of doors, giving the space flexibility to be used in different ways depending on the weather. We found this incredibly easy to pitch and has kept us dry during rain as all four sides can be closed.
Although it can get a little drafty inside, it seems solid and stands up to wind pretty well despite the size of it.
Probably the best £100 we have spent!
