4 Reviews of the Horizon 10

We bought this tent second hand after having a very cheap tesco jobbie last year. There are 5 of us two adults and three children plus a small dog and a gerbil ( yes we took the gerbil)! Brilliant tent, very roomy, carpet is fantastic best buy as has made camping much more comfortable.
We have an additional porch which we highly recommend for the cooking equipment, wet clothes and shoes. This porch is very good but a right royal pain to put up and needed all three children to hang onto things. Although it was our first time at putting it up it was fairly easy to do but does need all hands on deck.
The main tent was a similar case in terms of easy to put up and understand but hard with only two adults and three helpful but almost hindering children. Due to several cross words and misunderstanding one of the main poles did shatter and split but handy 'duck' tape came to the rescue (take duct tape as a must) and even with wind and rain in the Derbyshire peaks the tent with its poorly pole survived very well.
Love the green colour and the light area over the living room made the reading light last longer whilst the darker bedrooms were good for the morning. Brilliant zip options and flaps for windows and ventilation and kept bugs out well.
The bags it comes in are heavy and bulky and take up a lot of car room but the positive is a huge home feel accommodation which comfortably houses a family of five, a dog, a gerbil and all the clothes, books, shoes, food and build a bears needed for a two week stay.
Really looking forward to more camping adventures and thoroughly recommend this tent.

Roomy tent with good head room and decent sized living area. Easy to pitch after the first attempt, the footprint really helps and it also keeps the groundsheet clean. The small canopy shelters the entrance from light rain, you will have to zip up in a downpour. I really recommend the porch as having somewhere for cooking tables, muddy shoes etc made a big difference. The carpet was too pricey for us and unnecessary, as a couple of picnic rugs are fine for the job. The 4 sleeping pods are 3&2 each end, although we struggled to fit 3 air beds in the larger ones. More realistic is 2&2 with a bit of storage space. You don't have to put up all 4 pods if not needed. A couple of very minor drips in seams easily rectified with seam sealant. Useful rainproof cable opening on each side. Would definitely recommend this tent for up to 8 people, especially with the porch.

Have used this tent twice this summer, once in great weather and once in constant rain. The tent withstood the high winds and rain and no leaks. It's very spacious (we are a family of 6)inside and easy to put up once you've done it once. The carpet and porch make it even cosier and more spacious. Price was reasonable too. Would deffo recommend to anyone looking for a large family tent.

As there are no reviews of this fabulous tent I thought the camping world should know our opinion of this perfect family tent.
Our previous tent, the Outwell Hartford XXL was for many years the best available for our needs with 4 individual pods but it did have it's drawbacks as a dome tent. Mainly headroom in the sleeping areas. When our friends purchased the Gelert Horizon 8 we were very impressed with the headroom the tunnel tent had to offer but the Horizon 8 did not offer the perfect sleeping arrangement for us. We were looking for a large tunnel tent that would offer a huge living area and have the benefit of 4 individual bedroom area's so that our 2 children could sleep in their own rooms and the spare room could act as a store/dressing room. We use a kitchen tent to cook in and we also have an Horizon canopy to extend our living area.
Before we bought the 10 I assumed it was just an 8 but with an extra pod. I was wrong! The 10 is a much wider tent than the 8 and as a result it sits much squatter.
For 2011 it also has larger windows, opening vents and a wave(y) profile line to soften its extra size.
We have had two trips this year in the Horizon 10 and on both occasions the tent has been tested to the limit!
On it's first outing to the Yorkshire Dales it had to endure a week of force ten gales and eventually the eyebrow pole (anlgle) gave up (it was replaced by the supplier) but the tent did not flinch once. Our next trip to Mid Wales in July was rain, rain and more rain but the gelert didn't leak once! after 3 solid days of heavy rain we eventually gave up before the tent did. These experiences have convinced me that the Gelert Horizon 10 is as good a tent as the Outwell but the design is so much better for our needs and now we have the perfect arrangement for us at least.
This new tent will, I feel become a classic with families and large groups. Those of you looking for a great quality large tent should look no further. This tent is so very nearly a 10 out of 10 and we are very pleased that we bought it.
