5 Reviews of the Lokon Vario 4

We have used this tent for several years now and it still meets all our needs. Two good sized bedrooms, lots of living space & big windows, my husband is 6ft 4inches and can stand upright. We have had some awful weather and it has stood up to this too. The only thing I think it lacks is a sewn in groundsheet but I guess newer versions probably have that. Front guy ropes are a bit of a pain as they come down right outside the door, however we have pitched without using them and stability does not seem to be affected. Overall a great tent for our family.

Excellent space, flexible and strong. Used in all weather conditions, great protection when wind /rain is blowing or change walls and it becomes a sun trap. Wind has caught it more than once when being taken down but no damage to tent. Bought for £150 in 2007, great investment. I wouldn't say it was as easy to pitch as advertised, we have donme it now several times and it still takes quite a long time. It is also quite heavy to carry, but if you can park next to pitch that is no issue.

A huge tent with great living space. We camped next to one last year and decided that we just had to have one because we wanted the extra living space for cooking and sitting in when it's raining. We use the second sleeping pod as a store room/dressing room.

It's heavy to carry but not too bad when split into two packs and it's worth the effort to have such comfortable camping.

The windows and doors give a great feeling of openness and air so you never feel too confined in the tent and the head space when standing up is great.

Definitely recommended for campers who want the extra space.

I have to agree, this is an excellent tent, I got one cheap in a sale.

We spent a week in Dorset in it earlier in the year and had a great time - despite the weather, which the tent kept out, rain and wind!

We did get the problem that others have noted with the front guy ropes, it takes some tweaking to get these right so that the door isn't stressed.

Looking forward to another trip with it next year.

We got this tent brand new at a bargain price of just £115 including postage from good old Ebay!

It's a fantastic tent with a huge living area and loads of headroom. My other half is 6ft tall and has room to spare.

The tent itself is very easy to erect, flysheet first. It consists of just 4 poles all the same length which slide in quite easily with a pin fixing into the bottom of the pole. Our first time only took about 30 minutes, which will only get quicker with practice.

It comes with side strengthening bars to make it totally stable and over 70 pegs to hold it and the groundsheet firmly in place.

The Gelert Lokon Vario 4 has 2 separate bedrooms each one capable of housing a double inflatable bed. There is just the 2 of us so we'll use the 2nd bedroom as a storage room, wardrobe or even toilet room.

The living area is well, large is the only word I can think adequate. Plenty of room for chairs, a table, cooking area, etc. It even comes with it's own tent tidies which will come in very handy. The front door can be totally unzipped and taken off or moved inwards to give a smaller living area and a covered outside area.

It also has a side opening which can become a side awning - poles are included too.

The only downside is that the groundsheet is not sewn in. Instead you have 2 oversized groundsheets, however, it does have storm flaps so not too much of a problem as these keep the draughts out as well as the bugs!

Overall a fantastic tent with loads of room. Ideal for a small family or a couple who like room to manoeuvre!
