1 Reviews of the Green Outdoor Bush Shelter

By: JimCall  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2010   Rating:

I got this as a quick erect canvas tent which can give me standing room and a decent canopy to cook under. As with all GreenOutdoor products, it is very well manufactured and the canvas is very good quality. The only tiny thing that annoys me about it is the design of the guy rope runner - they stick when trying to tighten them so I will be replacing them. Not enough to drop from 10 out of 10 though. It comes complete with an inner nest which is really only big enough for 1 person. The inner has a SIG and the front panels have mozzie netting which can be zipped up separately from the material. The entrance is an inverted T zip. It also comes with an extra pole and guys. This is to prop up the hidden canopy. There is a full length zip up one of the (4 sided pyramid shape) corners and when opened, reveals a large flap which forms one of the sides of the extension, the other side being formed by the actual side of the pyramid.

There is an ample sized storm flap around the bottom of the tent which can be pegged down at the corners and middles - very handy. At the rear, there is a huge air vent with 2 sets of zips so you can use the vent (pegged out with 2 guys) fully open, zipped up or even rolled up! The Inner has a corresponding mozzie net to ensure good ventilation.

It is very easy to pitch. First lay out the groundsheet then bang in 4 corner pegs with tensioners and hoist the pole up, jobs done! There are mid way side tensioner points as well and also 2 corner guys & 3 side guys - Strange but the frontage with the zip out canopy cant have corner guys due to the shape. There is a smaller zipped entrance at the other side of the front panel. When it got windy the front panel took the full force and I was glad of the centre tensioner point to help maintain the integrity of the tent. It is actually very stable in wind and even with the canopy extension out, I found that it didn't bellow about so much that I couldn't still safely cook inside.

I made the mistake of trying to pull out the corner rock pegs with the tensioner web - big mistake, the stitching on the loop gave way! To fix it all I did was reverse the webbing round so I could use the pull tab as the peg loop and there is enough webbing to still allow me to tension the thing up! My fault so not a reflection on the tent.

I am very happy using this tent on its own with a reduced amount of camping paraphernalia or equally along with a day tent where I only use it to sleep in and do my cooking etc in the day tent. It will probably fit on my motorbike as well!

The only thing I would like to see changed (apart from the guy runners) is the attachment at the top of the inner. The main pole has a standard pin at the top which locates into a brass hole at the top of the canvas. If you want to use or take down the inner, it involves shifting the pole and almost collapsing the tent to get the inner moved. I got round this by simply making a loop of para cord with a bowline knot at one end and a small carabiner at the other. Problem sorted!

So in summary, a very well made canvas tent that I can stand up in, be confident it will stay up in a storm, cook in and hang out in the canopy.

The latest edition to the Green product range, a single pole pyramid tent with a secret up it''s sleeve. When you''re sleeping soundly or out for the day keep everything zipped up and you have a super stable pyramid tent that can hold of even the heaviest weather. When you''re up and about a zip, a pole and a peg later and you have a great canopy to sit out under, cook your breakfast or light up a small campfire.
