Easy to erect, took me about an hour first time, in the dark with no instructions, in wind. Took me about 10 mins the second time in more favourable conditions. In the morning after the first time we found that we were pitched about 20 yds from a tentipi7. The Tentipi owners were more than happy to show us around and compare notes. The first thing we noticed was that Tipi6 is much bigger than the Tentipi 7. It has 5 vents/windows whereas the Tentipi has only a vent in the top of the cone, as does the Tipi6. The colour is darker and as such the sun doesn't blind you at first light. As far as the quality of the material goes, we have owned a wing tarp for about 2 years from the same company as the tipi6, it has proved itself to be totally waterproof in torrential downpours at the Lakes on a number of occasions. We haven't experienced heavy rain in the tipi yet, only light rain which it proved to shrug off with no leaks, I know from my experience with the wing tarp that the material is up to it and expect the same waterproof qualities.

The owners of the Tentipi thought that we had the better tent and were most annoyed that we had paid Ł500 as opposed to their Ł1300 tent. The only thing that I an not totally happy with are the guy rope sliders but as it will cost me about a fiver to replace them it is not a major problem. The inner tent floor zips back to the middle which allows the floor to be folded back to allow you to take off your wet boots without getting the floor muddy. We have also got an extra separate groundsheet which allows the tent to be put up without the inner tent, when set up like this you can use a fire inside. We haven't yet set up like this but I will add an extra review when we do.

As far as space is concerned we had 4 single air beds set up which still took up only half of the space in the tent, you could probably fit in 8 single air beds, and still have a bit of space for kit.

Overall this is a very well made and well designed tent, perfect for a family of up to 6, any more and things would get a bit cosy.

This model is easy pitch using just one central pole and has a zipped groundsheet allowing it to be rolled back in the openeing exposing the ground to accomodate muddy boots or a cooking stove.

N.B. The recycled version of our Tipi 6 is not designed for use with fire boxes or naked flames of any kind. If you're looking for the warmth and comfort that only a real fire can give, check out the hemp/cotton canvas instead.
