6 Reviews of the Urban Escape Fuji 5

By: ConstableDunstable  Reason: I've used one  Made in: 2012   Rating:

A friend of mine suggested I borrow his Urban Escape Fuji 5 cotton chateau and take the wife and kids into the wilderness. As they say friends come and go so this one will have to go!

Started off as a lovely drive in the morning sunshine with a happy family. Little did I know the irreparable trauma which was lurking in the boot of the car. You know the one. Strange looking oversized twin hold-all. We arrived this morning and the weather started to turn. Emptied the contents of the, in hindsight handy carrier bag and a bead of sweat ran down my spine.

I have seen tents before, heck there were finished examples standing proudly all around me, but how on earth do I make this pile of aluminium, plastic and far too much waterproof jacket material look like them? The Mrs knew I was out my depth. Two hours of picking through the pile of debris and I was psycolologically spent! I thought campers were a helpful bunch? Not one textile erection specialist came to aid our plight. Cut a very long story short we're in the car heading home.

If anyone wants an Urban Escape Fuji five, it's lying in a pile in Ardentinny minus the double sided hold-all. One pouch for my ex friends rotting corpse and the other as yet to be assigned to one of my heckling travel companions.

Bricks and mortar. You know it makes sense;)

Love camping, but as I'm almost old now, want lot's of lovely comfort and this tent is it! Can stand in bedroom or lounge. The rooms are a great size and I selfishly use the two beds as one large bedroom as the divider removes completely and put my super dooper double height inflatable mattress in the centre. Loads of pockets, even a place to bring a camping power supply through into living area. Have camped at festival with two couples in our tent and even then there was plenty of room for the mattresses and the privacy that a piece of cloth can bring between the two beds! Luxurious 2 man tent!

We borrowed this tent for our first camping trip with our 2 young children and it was ideal for purpose. The sleeping area comfortably accommodated the 2 children on 1 side and us on the other, all on airbeds. Also, when they awoke and wanted to come in to see us we could easily unclip the room divider for them to come through without even having to get out of our bed. It was pretty easy to put up and had a great living area, being able to stand inside is a great asset and we were able to do all our cooking and sorting out the kids with ease and room to spare. The ample supply of pockets were very useful for all our bits and bobs too. Would definitely recommend this one!

This tent says its a 5 man tent and it does not lie! We used those low 4 legged beds on our trip to Clarach and had plenty of room. Rain and gale force wind for two days was not a problem for my Fuji unlike other tents on the field. Paid £129.99 well worth it - going back to Halfords to get a small tent for two day trips. Thumbs up to halfords for affordable good quality tents for people on a budget

This tent is a great tent we took it away for 14 nights and never had any problems at all it rained and blew gales very heavy for 3 nights and the tent withstood it with no problems at all we bought it from halfords for 129.99

This year we are planning more trips away with it.

It comfortably sleeps me my wife young daughter and our dalmatian dog.

The seating part at the front has plenty off room as well if you decide to go for this tent you wont be let down 10 out of 10 for us

I would advise on reading the instructions before trying to erect the tent. Once the outer tent is up, fitting the bedroom and groundsheet is relatively easy.

We have only been away camping twice so far but have managed to put the tent up quite quickly.

I chose this tent because of it's height 2.10 mtrs, and the large bedroom area. There are normally only two of us and our wee dog, but on our first trip we brought our granddaughter, and had a queen size and a single bed in the bedroom and had more than enough space in the Fuji 5.

There are 2 doors into the bedroom which can be opened completely or you can leave the mosquito nets up to allow air through and keep the bugs out. The living area has 3 doors, one either side which can again be opened leaving the mosquito nets closed. The large door at front, when unzipped can be mounted on poles creating a canopy. I am 6ft 4in tall and I am happy with my Fuji 5 as there is plenty of headroom and I can walk through without having to stoop or crawl on hands and knees which a lot of people have to do with smaller, lower height tents. We have only had one heavy shower of rain whilst camping and the tent kept us dry and was dry when we came to pack it away. It also goes back into it's carry bag quite easily if you fold it properly. Bought it for £129.99 at Halford's camping sale and we are very happy with it and look forward to many more camping trips.
