9 Reviews of the Voyager 10

By: S11Steve  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2012   Rating:

This is a follow up to my previous review after another 10 night stay, however this time we had the additional Kalahari porch fitted to one side.

As above, no problems with the tent, besides better ventilation, and also the curved door meant that standing water on top of the tent drained into the doorwell area when it was opened, but no problem on the side with the porch attached.

The porch is designed for the tunnel shaped Kalahari, so didn't fit flush to the more curved wall of the voyager. However, it did cover the entire width of the door, and prevented rain from getting inside the tent, as well as providing us with a large kitchen and eating area.

The gap at the sides was not too big though, about 4 inches at the most, but flush at the top and bottom of the dome. It also directed most of the rain around the outside of the tent, rather than into the door area. We couldn't get the roof properly taught, again, possibly due to the angle of the tent we attached it to, so water did pool a little above us, but at no point did it leak.

There are plenty of large windows on the porch, and the front will open partially, or can be completely removed with ease.

In all, this set up worked well for us, and has been cost effective on two trips.

Both items are easy to pack away once the correct method is learned - something that took us two attempts last time!

My Tent crazed other half has just bought one of these and I must say what a great purchase he made! It is brilliant. We have two boys and they fight like cat and dog and this is one of the only tents that have two bedrooms that are the same size and that is not just a curtain between the pods as my boys like to fight through the curtain so the fact the bedrooms are completely separate is a god send. This tent is also useful as my other half is 6ft 7 and this one is large enough for him to not have to bend over in the tent , so no back ache.

We can pitch this tent in about twenty mins and it is really easy with the colour coded poles.

So we are going to take it France in search of a bit of sunshine and see how it copes, as the English weather is no match for this tent its really good and waterproof.

After a few small camping trips to make sure we all liked the concept, we invested in the Voyager 10 as we needed at least 3 separate pods, rather than just a fabric divider, to prevent the boys from bickering at night. The large gap between the two pods at one end allows for good storage and sibling protection qualities. The 4th pod allowed us to keep one area for clean clothes and getting changed.

The tent was easy to erect, with clearly marked poles and simple guy line attachments. With the optional footprint we could choose our position before committing.

The tent was solid and waterproof in the one bad evening/night that we had, but when the weather improved it was very warm inside despite having vents at each end, and doors on both sides, but there was very little breeze to circulate anyway.

Being well over 6 foot, I really appreciated the high domed living area. I didn't feel that I had to stoop and bend, and didn't spend too much time shuffling around on my knees.

We also used a universal porch, but plan to obtain a Kalahari or similar porch for a better fit.

It did take a few attempts to get it packed up again, but once it was folded correctly we had enough room in the two bags for everything, including the additional footprint. It's not exactly lightweight when packed, but at 7m x 4m, there is a lot of poles and fabric to stow.

It wasn't cheap, but it was well worth the money, and will be the centrepiece of our forthcoming summer holiday in France.

We purchased a voyager 10 and have used it twice once for a trial 5 nights locally and then for 2 weeks. It is easy to put up and with the foot print and carpet very dry and comfortable. As you will know it does not come with its own porch however we purchased the Kalahari 10 porch and it fits nicely with only a slight gap to the sides even in heavy rain it only meant a small amount of rain around the entrance to the main tent and was practical for our kitchen area along with shoe storage and seating. We purchased from Go outdoors in a sale and checked that we were happy with the fit before going away as we really liked the set up of the tent but wanted a porch and it was within our price range. We have two boys age 8 and 12 and a large dog. And this works perfectly - I only wish it did come with its own porch and if this could be wider than the kalahari one I would buy one tomorrow. Which is why I give it 9 out of 10 come on Hi Gear please please make it its own large porch!

We love camping and with 3 children (1, 4 and 15) a spacious tent is a must. We bought this one from go Outdoors as they had a fantastic deal on it. It is a very easy tent to put up but I would advise a practice run before you go away just to get the hang of it! We have just come back from a week away and we had 1 day of torrential rain but we stayed dry and warm inside the tent, it is huge inside even with all the bedrooms up so plenty of room for all of us, the only downside I can think of with the voyager is that you cant buy a porch for it which would take my rating up to 10/10.

Great tent ! This is my first tent and I bought it from go outdoors on offer we are well pleased as I have three children and the space in this tent is brill. I'm looking for a porch so if anyone can recommend one that fits that would be great. I would highly recommend this tent to anyone wanting a good quality tent with lots of room the tent is very easy to put up with colour coded poles I love it.

Our previous tent was a Hi Gear and was good quality so when we see the Voyager 10 on offer at Go Outdoors we had to get it. Just trial pitched in our back garden and wow for a tent this size it is a doddle to pitch. All elasticated rods are colour coded so you just slide them all in then go inside to lift middle and someone else just puts the pins into the bottom of the rods then just peg out guide ropes (very sturdy without ropes). Great quality, Well impressed !

Bought this tent when it was on an offer too good to refuse at Go Outdoors. The space it gives us is amazing with a large living area and good sized bedrooms for my three children. We attached a kalahari 10 porch and although it wasn't a perfect fit it certainly did the job and allowed us to keep our cooking /food items outside of the main tent area.

It took around an hour to pitch completely with two of us including bedroom pods and guy rope pegging. It was very easy to put up and just as easy to put down and it even fits back into the bag. I can't wait to go away for my main two weeks in summer as I know that come rain or shine we'll be fine in this tent.

Me and the other half and our two kids (2 + 6) went on our first camp a few week back in a tiny 6man pro action from argos. It leaked, I couldnt stand upright, we were cramped inside but it didnt put me off. This week I went out and got the higear voyager 10 as its large and tall and spacious. Then came to putting it up.Easy peasy.Did it myself whilst the fella watched the kids, only time I needed him was to lift the dome. Took me an hour but as I said I did it alone. The fact the bedrooms are multi sized and multifunctional is a brilliant design. The tent is huge and tall enough for me even almost to the end and im 5'11 and a bit. If your hit with bad weather there is loads of room for kids to play or to sit round a table and play/eat. The footprint is my next buy to make pitching even easier. There are plenty of storage bits and nice large windows and vents. All in all I am more than happy with this purchase and was a real bargain from go outdoors
