1 Reviews of the Cypress 6
By: Kaydeescoolcamping Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
I couldn't find one review out there for this tent and have never written one before so here we go. This, although a beginners tent, is our third tent, the first being a small 2 man and the second a dome 8 man. Marketed at the new campers or those looking for a simpler camping experience it does not have the bells and whistles of some tents. Two sleeping pods either side are ideal for older children or teenagers who want their own space with the living area in-between. If both bedrooms are used for sleeping then the living area has just enough room for our double camping chair coffee table and 2 single camping chairs. We use two basic folding camp beds as a double which only just fit in length wise as they are 180cm in length, this gives us room either side of the beds for getting in/out, dressed ect and with decent headroom in the sleeping pods ensures the sleeping area doesn't feel as cramped as others.
Although a 3000hh the tent was damp slightly where the sleeping pods were attached at a weekend in Fort William when the rain belted down and never let up, hopefully seam sealer will have cured this. A bathtub or zipted in ground sheet would have vastly improved the difference in the living area during this storm, we have rectified this by using two cheap tarps underneath the whole thing which are great for keeping the tent clean when putting away. As our son and daughter have decided to join us we are using an additional cheap awning as kitchen/dining area for a two week holiday in France. This tent is essentially a beginners or no frills tent. Because of it's weight it can be manhandled easier than the more heavy tents. Having only 4 poles I can easily pitch it on my own although much more quickly when hubby's there to help. The porch awning may mean lack of airflow through it with only two openable widows on the sleeping pod ends so maybe not having the bathtub ground sheet will be valuable after all. This tent works for us, we like the sleeping set-up, the quick and easy pitching times and the lack of excessive weight to trudge around. It is relatively inexpensive as well compared to some. If your looking for tons of storage points, features or campsite cred this is probably not the tent for you. My next tent WILL have a woodburning stove oh the luxury :)
