1 Reviews of the Karrimor Bobcat 2

By: Ballo1000  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2016   Rating:

I was looking for a cheap, lightweight tent for wild camping that could be pitched all as one for trips to the peaks. I stumbled across this on the website at a reduced price, from £179 to £54 so I took the plunge. I have a range of tents from a Macpac Olympus, North Face Tadpole and Alpkit Zhota to some cheapies like a Gelert Solo and Coleman Viper. I was pleasantly surprised when I received this through the post, it's not made from high end materials, and the stitching is not as neat as others, but so far it appears to be a good tent. It came all detached, but only took around 10 minutes to pitch, including clipping the inner in. The pole sleeve for the main pole is blanked at one end, so easy to put up, and the two end poles are alloy and break down, unlike the Zephyros. The weight is about right and the internal space is much bigger than the aforementioned Zephyros so could sleep two, if your know each other fairly well. The stuff sack is slightly over sized with compression straps so goes in easy and then compresses well. There is space to add an extra guy at each end to additional stability and I then have no doubt that it with cope well with a fair bit of wind. There is a small vent at each end and the door can either be fully closed off, or a screen unzipped to expose a fully mess door for the summer months. The mesh seems to be no-see-um so should keep midges out. I will update this when I have used the tent in anger.
