4 Reviews of the Colorado 6

This is the first family sized tent that we have owned and we bought it second hand. It is very spacious and meant that we had plenty of room for everything we needed. We even managed to store the roof box in the tent without falling over it!
Erecting the tent is not as straightforward as Khyam would have you believe. It is meant to be a 20 minute erect but I can't believe that it can be possible just to hammer the tent pegs in within the 20 minute window. The second time we put it up, we got it down to about 2 hours. The separate groundsheet is a bit fiddly with the base of the tent panels and the Khyam instructions could do with diagrams about which to peg down first for the complete novices like us. All in all, I would say that this is a great tent for families but don't underestimate the time taken to set up camp!

Excellent!
Plenty of room for all the family.
The first time we used this tent we were in the Lake District. There was me, my husband and our 1 year old son.
Bedroom area can be divided into 1, 2 or 3. We had it divided into 3 with my son in his travel cot in 1 room, us in the room next to him and our clothes in the next room. Very easy access from 1 room to another meant I could check on my son without having to unzip lots of noisy zips!
The living area is. Well huge! With a camp kitchen and stove, a table for our kettle-drinks area, a table and 3 chairs to eat/ socialise round, a storage unit and kids toys there was still plenty of room.
We got 12 family visit us all together and there was still plenty of room!
Easy to put up but definitely a 2 man job but then again it is a6 man tent!
Yes it rained in the lakes! Yes it stayed dry inside! What a result!

With a husband who was determined not to enjoy camping despite agreeing to it, it was very important to us to buy a tent with enough room to cope with our lovely British summers ie enough room to hang wet waterproofs without tripping over them and enough room to cook in the tent itself if we needed to.
The Colorado 6 ticked every box. It's massive! The six berth sleeping area, which can be divided into one, two or three areas, gave us plenty of room for us and our daughter, plus all our clothes and her toys. The main living area has enough room to put the camping table with three chairs round it on one side, the camp kitchen with bags of food etc on the other side, the dog's bed [Border Collies need room!] and an area to hang out all our waterproofs on coat hangers to drip dry on the newspaper beneath. There was even room in the middle to spread out a picnic rug so we could sit and play cards, or my daughter could draw.
We went to the Gower Penninsula in the summer of 2009 and out of twelve days only had two dry ones, and one of those was the day we drove there. The tent was fantastic. It has side bracing poles running the whole length of the tunnel so stood up to two separate gale force 8 storms when other people were losing their tents. We had no leaks, even though the groundsheet isn't a sewn in one and the earth beneath the groundsheet was decidedly soft and squidgy by the end of the first week! We were able to cook in the dry and dry out our gear ready for the next downpour. The tent has the wonderful facility to unzip the whole of the front panel and rezip it a third of the way back into the tent. This gives you a smaller living area, but an equally sized porch area, suitable for sitting or cooking in. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on the side of us using the zip in panel.
The only drawback is the time it takes to put it up. It's definitely a two man job. Neither of us are above five foot six and the tunnel is seven foot high in the middle so we struggled a bit. It took a long time to erect, but once up it was wonderful. I would thoroughly recommend this tent for families who are worried about space. We're selling ours now as the husband refuses any more main holiday camping and we have purchased a smaller tent for weekend touring, so if you want this one give me a call!

We've owned our Colorado for some 3 years and even today looking round the sites, nothing compares to it. There aren't many tens which have 3 bedrooms and a living area big enough to put a camp kitchen, storage unit, tables, chairs and a double bed when guests arrived, all at the same time, and still having space to move around. Another great feature is that you can unzip the front panel and move it back, making a veranda or even better in hot weather take it off all together! There are 3 large windows which let in plenty of light and have ventilation mesh. The ground sheet is durable, and the bedroom section easy to put up. You can have one large sleeping area or three separate ones, each with its own door, which has a fly screen. Being made of Weather Weave 5000, even in torrential rain we've stayed dry. The only downside to this tents size it putting it up. You will need two people, and putting it up in anything greater than a gentle breeze can lead to snapped poles or the thing taking off! The poles are readily available, easy to replace and cost around £2 a section. This is a great tent for families who want plenty of space and versatility.
