3 Reviews of the McKinley
By: Mewssdns Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2005 Rating:
We love Khyam tents, we have 2 rigipod classics, Petworth, motordome excelsior and now a McKinley to replace our much loved Highlander. The only reason for changing the Highlander to a McKinley is that we are 65 years old and the low entrance to the Highlander was becoming a problem for these old bones. The McKinley has a great porch for easy entrance and enough room in the porch for us to sit on our camping chairs when then weather is less than sunny. Lots of room for two in the bedroom with space for bits and pieces. The huge porch is great for cooking and storing things. Great tent for weekends or longer, so easy to erect while other non khyam campers are still sorting things out.

I have used this tent for touring since April 2006. The rapid deployment is unbeatable, specially when I had to visit 4 or 5 sites on a trip. Easy up, easy down in seconds was an absolute godsend. Funny but people always looked and were always impressed at the speed we could set up camp. Found it suited my needs perfectly(usually a 2 person set up, with plenty of room for gear etc) It was waterproof enough for our comfort and I did catch some good storms along the way. Did find fault with a rain trap over the side entrance, which I had to manually push out or it sagged and could leak in and not enough peg holes around the front area, so put some in myself, but besides that I wouldn't part with it. The memories it has helped to create are forever etched in my mind. I enjoy camping with this tent so much to the degree I shipped it over to Australia with me when I emigrated (I just couldn't leave it behind) and have been using it here too! 10/10

WOW! My wife and I bought the McKinley back in about 2000 for a camping trip. A single night under canvas on a windless but soggy as airfield. Extravagant sure but it seems to have paid off.
11 years later this tent has just been taken from it's bag for the second EVER time. Okay it's been stored properly but there is not a single thing wrong.
The tent popped up into place easily and it was fully pitched in under 5 minutes.
I would have expected a little decay, maybe some fabric sticking or something but no. Aside from a little sand in the tent it is like new.
What's more this tent has been shipped to NZ and back!
Proof that decent money on decent kit pays off in my book
