4 Reviews of the Michigan 12

Have just returned from our first trip in this tent. Fairly straight forward to put up, and was glad to say that unlike our previous dome tent I was able to manage the height and weight of this one.

There are 3 bedrooms, the largest can be divided into 3 doubles and the middle into two doubles. All 3 bedrooms can be removed so you can make the space suit you. The tent is designed so bedroom combinations can go either end. Slept six comfortably, giving a spare room for toilet or bits and pieces. You could get the 12 persons in however you would be quite cramped.

As we had 4 children in the larger bedroom we simply put two either side which gave them a nice play area in the middle.

We had the middle room and used the smallest for the toilet and storage until my mother joined us and she refused to share with the toilet!

We had the worst weather ever and had not had a chance to soak the tent beforehand so it was well and truly tested.

A couple of seams leaked slightly on the first heavy rain but these must have then sealed as we had no more problems after.

The tent survived the gale force winds although a couple of poles got twisted round and on taking down discovered one of the poles had split. However the tent had stayed up and survived the worst of the gales. Two spares are included so we can easily replace.

Headroom is great and living area is large, approx 2.5 metres by 3.5.

The porch helps to keep the rain out but allows you to have the door open to stop the tent getting too stuffy but other than as a temporary toilet area for a couple of nights I did not think it was really big enough for anything else. There is no fitted groundsheet in this area and with a gap of a few inches anything in there would get wet in heavy rain.

Overall though a good tent and ideal for a larger family planning to do a week or more.

After two trips out in ours one for bank holiday one for a two weeker to Devon and Dorset here's our view. Good points, bedrooms great height and size wise, six of us with camp beds. Good living area. Fairly easy to put up (but not in windy conditions) small useful porch, kitchen or toilet area in bad weather. Cheap to buy for size. Bad points, leaks on groundsheet seams where pegging points are. Leaks on roof on bedroom attachment points, unless you use seam sealer(provided). Guy rubbers too short constantly coming undone. Groundsheet skirt way too short. Add on porch rubbish doesn't fill in gap between tent and itself. Rain all over place. This tent is alright in calm conditions but not in any kind of windy or very rainy weather.

We went camping for the first time last weekend and were very impressed with this tent.

It was very easy to put up, took two of us about 40 mins, and was very straightforward.

The tent is very spacious and has three bedrooms and a big living area.

I would definitely recommend this tent.

Bought this tent after being let down by our vango, it is truly a lovely tent very airy with lots of ventilation and windows.

The bedrooms are made up of one large inner that can be divided into 3 taking a double in each and then at the other end a double on its own and a four birth again with a dividing curtain- obviously you can put them all up or take some away whichever suits yr needs. The living area is enormous, plenty of room for our large table six chairs large blow up sofa , blow up chairs, kids etc. The tent is very easy to put up , it took my husband and I 40 mins on first pitch.
