1 Reviews of the Ridgi Dome Espace
By: NikWood Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2005 Rating:
Just in case you want a tent and are looking for a used bargain - try this, you cannot go wrong!
We have owned one for a few years now. It is quick to erect the main hub and we can be fully operational in a few minutes.
Kyham claim it can sleep 10-12, well we use it for 5 and it is very spacious but I'm not sure about 10-12.
It is the kind of tent you can live in if the weather turns bad. You can stand up in it, unless your name is Martin Bayfield or Peter Crouch and there is a stack of space for a kitchen unit, cooker, storage, wet/dirty clothes and towels to be stored in the two porches before we even get into the living area. We once camped next to a caravanner in Scotland who asked if he could store his caravan in our tent whilst we went for dinner!
Out tent has been battered by all sorts of weather and never failed us, never leaks and never collapses. There aren't many better feelings than being tucked up in bed late at night listening to the rain bouncing off the roof and knowing that you are as snug as a bug in a rug let alone being as safe as houses.
The bedrooms we have are fully enclosed with mosquito protective nets and venting on double zipped doors. They are spacious enough for a double bed in each plus a generous bag of clothing on each side.
The two porches have inner and outer doors that can serve as mosquito nets or be pegged out on poles to create some shade. The sides of one porch also unzip to reveal nets that can help with airflow on a hot day.
We can take the tent down in around 10 minutes and it folds up into a customised bag that is not too heavy to be carried by one reasonably strong person.
Whenever we camp, we always see heads turn as people walk past out tent. It often provokes discussion because its size and construction is unusually sturdy compared to the tunnel tents you see these days. Folk just cannot believe how much stuff we can get in there, it is like the tardis.
So if you have a growing family and loads of stuff - get one of these for a couple of hundred quid (they cost £600 when new) - and you will have grabbed yourself a bargain.
If our tent were a person it would be Dawn French - spacious, a lot of fun and very classy!
