4 Reviews of the Ridgi-Pod Excelsior

A nice tent with flexibility to extend the bedrooms and to join two tents together for two families. Good height, hubby is 6.3 and can stand up inside it. Nice to have two openings.

Good sized bedroom pods will take queen airbed size and a single. Spares seem easy to get hold of still if required from Khyam direct who are very helpful.

This is the best tent we've ever owned. The sheer size and adaptability of the bedroom pods, porches and garage tunnel (great for unloading the car on rainy days) are brilliant!

We often use the main base and one pod for the two of us as we like our space and as my husband is 6ft 4'' the height is a definite advantage. The bedroom pod is large enough to fit a double height queens sized airbed plus bags etc.

The Khyam ' Rapidex' quick erect system with fly sheet first is great and manageable for one person.

We've used this tent in heavy rain and howling gales and stood rock sold where other failed, namely tunnel tents.

One criticism, spares are now hard to get hold of and one broken zip on one of the bedroom pods. Saying that they do appear on Ebay frequently.

We bought this tent as we loved the sheer size of it. Our friends also purchased one and we bought a tunnel between us and joined the tents together. It looked fantastic and was the talk of the campsites we pitched in. The down side was it took 3 hrs to erect. The tents went back to khyam as they leaked at the seams during a regular British downpour. Loved the rapidex system, The bedroom pods were a great size it took our three tier restform bed with room to spare. Khyam were great and replaced both tents for the newer excelsior but we had decided to upgrade to a folding camper anyway, so sold the tent.

Bought because we were after a generous sized tent for 2 but also wanted to go camping with extended family. So the ability to add additional bedroom 'pods' as needed seemed a great idea.

We also liked the Khyam 'Rapidex' quick-erect system with fly-sheet pitched first.

The Ridgipod did indeed prove to be a really good/flexible configuration tent with just one major criticism: To allow the bedroom pods to be zipped in and out at will, the base tent requires just too many pegs to define base footprint and these pegs are all required even if no 'pods' are zipped-in.

Manufacturer's Description

The Ridgi-Pod concept is simple enough select your base unit and then decide how many rooms you need safe in the knowledge that an unused "pod" can be unzippered, stowed and any of the 3 multi-functional panels supplied can be inserted at any time. Conversely if more space is needed later you can add another bedroom, simply unzip the panel and zip in the "pod" (up to a maximum of three).
So whether you are leading a group expedition, camping with friends and family or you just want to luxuriate in plenty of space, Ridgi-pod is the modular design for your life.
