6 Reviews of the Santiago

I bought one of these as I left my Ridgidome xl at Glastonbury after the deluge of 2007! Very compact for the space you get. Fairly easy to put up. Sleeping compartments are cosy rather than massive. Nice quality.Great design. The sitting area is very comfortable and can be opened up on both sides when the heat is on.I do miss the ease of the Ridgi dome though!

This is a lovely tent, we use it for a luxury 2 berth, giving us a lot of living space in the middle. Not yet used it in very high winds so can't vouch for how it holds out to it.

Have used it in heavy rain and it has kept us dry. I would agree with the other reviews regarding the groundsheet. As we only use one pod the groundsheet is to small to cover the rest of the area, so we will be looking to get a larger one.

Looks like we also managed to pick up a bargain as we got it for only £99!

The Santiago is an ideal tent for two people. In one pod you can put all your gear and of course sleep in the other one.

We bought ours in 2008 & used it twice last year & once

This year up to now.Unfortunately twice when we have used it one of the carbon poles has split so now we carry spares.

The middle of the tent has no sewn in ground sheet which lets it down so an ordinary ground sheet has to be used with a possible draught blowing from front door to back.

Overall though, once these problems are sorted the tent is easy to put up,waterproof and up to now has been reliable.

This is an excellent tent, very robust and easy to pitch, I used it as a luxurious 2 berth and it was more than adequate. I would second everything the above poster says, though I would probably be quite happy to use it in extremely windy conditions provided it was properly pitched (end on to the wind) and had Delta Ground Anchors on all the guy ropes. The newer version (the Sherpa) benefits from a sewn-in-groundsheet, the only area in which I felt the Santiago could be improved.

The sewn in groundsheets on the internal 'bedroom' sections are a bit flimsy and need a second groundsheet underneath for protection from stones. Other than that, a good flexible tent with plenty of room. I've never used it in windy conditions but imagine it would need a peg upgrade.

This absolute beauty of a tent set me back £120 and was worth every penny. Absolutely tons of living space. Its so versatile, it can be used as anything from a luxurious 2 berth to a 6 birth if you use the living space for sleeping in fair weather. If you keep it down to 3 people max you can easily fit chairs in the living area which is so much better than sitting cross legged all the time (has to be the most uncomfortable position ever doesn't it?) The reassuring 5000mm static head works wonders in practice - never any leaks. Only weather I wouldn't recommend this tent for is extreme wind ie clifftop campsites! As with any tent I recommend a peg upgrade. I really did notice improved rigidity in blustery weather. This tent isn't widely available now due to it being an older model however, given my experience with this I could highly recommend the Khyam Sherpa which seems to be the sequel to Santiago from what I can see. It seems to be almost identical except for a sown in ground sheet, which is fantastic! 8-)
