5 Reviews of the Sherpa 4

This tent is the best I have ever camped with - bar none. I have been camping for 25yrs and have many different styles and this is perfect.

Pitched with the inner and outer together it is up and ready in 10/15 mins. One of the largest porch areas for living in and sleeps two in style and comfort. In all the weathers it's been in it has never leaked or moved or worried me

I have had offers of over £200 to sell it it as friends have been so envious of it's fantastic quality.

This tent is still in use [2012] and has never had to be re-proofed or repaired - we camp eight or nine times a year

The only bad point - it is no longer made. Bring it back out and the company could make a fortune.

Hi, I love this tent. Its a 2 room tunnel tent, equal headroom throughout. The bedroom is a good size, I have actually had 2 adults and 2 children all sleeping in it. Used it in very strong winds, and it stood proud. Easy to pitch, 3 poles all the same length, and easy to pack away, and once in the bag, easy to store,(kept down the side of a wardrobe over winter).

This tent stands out because of how many different ways you can rig the doors. I've got a 3 berth one, and in hot weather, you can't beat it - i've never seen a tent that has a proper door into the sleeping area that can be rigged up to provide a sun shelter - perfect for when you want to crash during the day but not in 100+ degrees. The living area is huge, and with so many different door options, it's really fun as well.

Downsides are weight - not ideal for backpacking, so i'm looking for a lightweight tent for that. But, you've got a lot of poles with this tent for all the door / sun shade options, and you can always leave these poles behind to cut down on weight a bit. When you're on a trip with transport, this tent is spacious enough that you can live for quite a while in it without getting 'tent-cabin fever'.

I did begin to doubt the tunnel structure in horrendous weather last september in cornwall - it can catch the wind a bit, whereas with a dome or igloo you've got a bit more stability. (also began to doubt whether I would see the morning!). But, I knew it wasn't a mountain tent when I bought it, so can't hold what it isn't supposed to be against it. The tent just about came through the night of horrendous weather in cornwall (one of those where you daren't get out 'cos you're sure the tent will blow away if you're not in it, no sleep kind of nights) - the back walls were pretty caved in but I put this down to the fact that the ground was so rocky and hard, and i'd forgotten the mallet, that we couldn't get the pegs in properly! I am reassured by the previous comment that, with pegs properly in place, we would have had a less fraught night!

Would definitely recommend this tent for family and friend holidays and camping where you're not having to carry everything. It's definitely a 'home tent' to enjoy living in, rather than just a place to sleep.

Went to a camping show as I needed a tent for my girlfriend and I for a holiday in Dorset. Having seen many different makes and models pitched, we decided on the Sherpa for several reasons. It was roomy, with a decent sleeping area (for 2 at any rate) and a good sized 'living area'. It also has (as already mentioned) many ways to rig the doors. I also liked the colour, a small detail but it does look professional! It's easy to pitch and strike, although the carry bag is too small to repack into. Just a couple of centimetres on each dimension would be good. Our week in Dorset was during the very worst weather (July 2007.) and the tent was brilliant despite heavy rain and very strong winds. We're off to Cornwall in a couple of weeks and I know the Sherpa will look after us! I LOVE this tent. Ignore the price quoted on here, you can get one online for £65. If you're in the market for a tent for 2 people, buy this. And to the previous reviewer, if you wanted a tent to stand up in, buy a marquee!

Love this tent. Super comfy for one or two. Weatherproof, airy, roomy and easy to use. Lots of ways to rig doors. Great fun and looks pretty cool. Would give it more points if I could stand up inside this tent, but a small detail, really. Light and compact to pack. Plenty of room inside too.
