5 Reviews of the Tourer 600

I have taken a family of five away for a week for the last 4 years in this tent.

It goes up pretty quick and two of you in a really strong wind can have the four corners pegged and guyed in 5 minutes. The rest of it takes some time but when the wind and rain is coming down those first 5 minutes make all the difference.

The bedrooms are pretty spacious and can fit two single or a double air bed plus plenty of room for bags etc.

Plenty of spares have been provided and I found the mini repair kit pretty useful this year (who uses a kitchen knife to scratch their back and then miss! don't ask)

Had a couple of leaks over the years but a bit of sealant always does the trick.

The only down side is the lack of sewn in groundsheet in the living area as we had some flooding this year (more down to poor pitching probably)

Overall, a pretty good tent and definitely worth the £300 I spent.

I love this tent, it is very spacious inside. There are four of us, two adults two kids and two dogs. The bedroom pods have plenty of room, in our we fit a double airbed and have enough room at the side to fit the dogs beds in and let the dogs sleep with us (Border Collie size). We sometimes use just two pods and use the other space to put our table and chairs, and sometimes we use three pods and use the spare as a changing room/luggable loo area :-)

It is watertight and if it's raining you can sit inside and use the large window in the door to nosy outside. The only minus for me is there is no cooking area, we use and Outdoor revolution outhouse as a utility tent instead.

A good sturdy family tent, you can't go far wrong with a khyam :-)

We bought this tent for touring the Scottish Highlands and so it has seen some rain and wind. It stood up to a very strong wind coming off the sea onto the unprotected site at John-O-Groats, although we broke one of the joints putting it up in the same (force 8 to 9)when the wind turned some of it up inside itself. Easily repaired with the supplied spare. With the stone protection groundsheet (optional extra) pegged (through well matched holes)over the turned in mudflaps, it kept all but the cold out. Easily erected, Kyhams quick erect on the main dome and an elastic jointed pole through each of its bedrooms. Four main guys, 4 guys on each bedroom and 2 on the front. The rest of the pegging out can be done from inside, crawling around in the dry. Even in a wet breeze it's a breeze. (45 mins on your own, less than 30 to a boiled kettle with the help of a mallet wielding assistant). It packs away easily and a lot quicker into its bag. Packed size not much bigger than a large holdall that will take the groundsheet too (with a push). We have used it 'down South in the summer and it is well ventilated for warmer days and nights making this a great 3 season tent. Pitch size including outstretched guys, about the same as a caravan and awning. Bad points, only niggles are headroom and only one window. Good points, easy erect, centre bed has two way access, door flap doubles as porch to keep the damp air off your beer in the evenings!

We bought this tent as we wanted to have spontaneous week-ends away with our two small boys (5 & 3).Neither of us have had much camping experience before. We spent ages looking at other tents, reading reviews and generally weighing up our needs. This tent is quite expensive (£250 inc Groundsheet), but having used it I think it is great value for money. It is a quick erect tent, which means the main poles are incorporated within the fly sheet and you just click them into place to erect it. There is a useful booklet and DVD showing you how to erect the tent in a matter of minutes (not hours). We had children coming to watch us put it up on our 1st outing and commenting on how quickly it went up - I think it took us about 45 minutes to completely erect it on our 1st attempt(2 adults and two little boys to help!)before we were sitting outside waiting for the kettle to boil . I would not like to try and erect this tent single handed, due to its size, but I would say it is possible, just much easier with 2. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of room for 2 single air beds or a double and bags. The bedroom pods are flexible, so that you can arrange your living space to suit your needs and put up as many as you require. We tend to put up 2 and use the extra space for living room and dumping our gear. It is essential to invest in the groundsheet as otherwise you would be stepping out of bed onto damp grass/ground in the mornings and get pretty chilly. We are delighted with the tent so far and have not encountered any leaks and it withstood fairly strong coastal winds 2 weeks ago in Dorset with no problems and wasn't too noisy either. All in all I would recommend this tent for 4 - 6 people as it is spacious, quick and easy to erect, quality build with plenty of pockets and hanging hooks etc and flexible accommodation. It fits into the back of a large family car (we have an estate) easily and so you don't need a trailer to cart all your gear around, although roof racks may be needed as the kids grow older and want to take more stuff along. The tent was equally as easy to put away and pack up fitting easily back into the strong bag provided.

We downgraded to this tent from a larger Khyam that was too large for most sites, I can now manage to pitch and put all the equipment in within 90 mins.

While this is a 6 birth we tend to use it as a 4 birth, I share one bedroom with baby and husband gets son and other bedroom, we use the space where the other bedroom should be for fridge, shelves etc. The bedrooms comfortable fit a double bed or two singles with space for bags.

We also bought the full stone protection sheet which is very handy keeps bedrooms bottom clean!

Its been used in some very wet weather (last august 07) where it rained heavily for a fortnight and didnt leak once.

We use it for long holidays up to 2 weeks and plenty of space for a small family.
