5 Reviews of the Arapaho 9

As we have a large family I bought one of these tents for trips away during the summer.

It has been a great investment as it has 3 large bedrooms and a large living area.

It's easy to put up, and has withstood some really torrential weather without leaking. I understand what folk are talking about with the groundsheet, but I've never had any real problem with it and it's a minor glitch.

Last summer we spent a week with 10 of us in it without any problem. (5 were smallish kids). We were originally going to use 2 tents, but found we all fitted into the Arapaho.

We were first time campers and were looking for a large family tent. This was ideal as it was cheap and has plenty of space. We are a family of 2 adults, 2 children (6 and 3) and a Labrador and found we had loads of room, even when you are stuck inside in bad weather. It stood even when the wind was so bad it almost blew one of the bedrooms flat, but no poles broke and we had no leaks.

On the downside the groundsheet is supposed to be a bucket, but the sides kept falling flat and at the front door when this happened it left 2 inch gaping holes which was not ideal. Also this meant that the rain ran down the door and onto the fallen groundsheet and then into the tent. If the groundsheet had been sewn in, this tent would have been pretty much perfect, however it gave us the taste of camping and have now invested in a more expensive tent knowing that we will continue to have fantastic family holidays

After a couple of past disasters camping with our old tent we bought this one last summer as one last ditch attempt to try camping. We took the tent for a week in France and had the best camping trip ever!

This tent was big enough for the 4 of us to sit and play games in the central living area comfortable to sleep in, we had the 3rd bedroom as a storage area and had the best time.

The one downside to the tent is the groundsheet, it's meant to be a bathtub style but all the sticky bits have come off and need repairing (previous owner said it was only used gently once so was surprised these were damaged so not sure if this is a fault of the tent or previous owners).

Having read the previous review tho I have to say that we had one storm and the tent was undamaged and stayed put through it. Hopefully saying that, I don't jinx our next trip.

Added to my last comment the tent does not like windy conditions and capsized dramatically with us in it also snapping poles it is a great tent in good conditions but I wouldn't now recommend it if you want a tent for all conditions

This tent has everything you want and need for a typical English camping holiday. Easy to assemble after a trial run and takes two people to assemble it . It has a large living area for those rainy days or evenings to sit in. The bedrooms are huge and easy fit 3 adults in each one plus bags and room for storage.
Great head room as a 6 footer in my family and no problem standing up. The only thing I would have liked would have been a fitted ground sheet and a seperate door to zip away from the porch in the inner tent just to make it cosy.
For our family though its a great buy and would definitely recommend it to any one
