3 Reviews of the Minok 5

I bought this in Halfords for under £80 in the sale and I am very pleased with this 'weekend' tent for two or as a touring tent.Although it does not go up in 5 minutes as Lichfield say! Perhaps they simply counted the moment from when you put the poles in and put up the flysheet! However, threading the one central arch and two fibreglass poles which attach to that is very simple, then just clip around the sides and peg it down. I bought it because it has loads of headroom and was not disappointed. You are totally zipped up away from bugs in the sleeping area and there are partial mozzie nets there although they don't go the whole way and there are no mosquito nets in the living area. It is very convenient, spacious and luxurious for two plus dog. The dog nipped out under the door in the morning as the rising groundsheet is only pegged to the fly in a few places. It is a good idea to put an extra tarpaulin down as a footprint as the groundsheet only covers the living area floor. The only fault/difficulty was that one of the curtains would not do up at one top corner as it seemed the elastic was not long enough but this would be easily rectified with an elastic band. I'm looking for a carpet that will fit as Lichfield don't seem to make one as yet. The nice large windows make it feel like a little summer house so you can sit and admire the view or watch the kids from the tent and the added bonus of an extra tarp for a porch (which we can also use on our other tents) made this even more of a bargain.

I bought one of these secondhand for a bargain price. Pitched it this weekend and with only 3 poles it was fairly straight forward. One bedroom with two doors(can just fit in four camp beds) and a very light living area - four windows with covers - of (more or less) equal size it feels very spacious. Bathtub ground sheet was a novelty as never had one before but was soon sorted. Held up well in the fairly stiff breeze, even when not pegged out properly. I like the fact that it comes with a tarp that can be added above the door to (supposedly) keep the rain from coming in when you need to get out! You can still buy this tent, new, for a reasonable £80 from Halfords.

Good tent, easy to put up, used for camping on weekends at race tracks ( I'm a race marshall) where there s no shelter from high winds( most race tracks are old converted ww2 airfields eg Silverstone.)
This tent has only had one broken pole in the time I have had it. It does get a bit of a hammering as its used every weekend from end of feb till November.
Pole broke in 70mph winds at Donnington bsb round in September. A lot of other tents were wiped out completely. Did use some gaffer tape on the fibreglass pole to mend it and then moved it to the back section and vice versa. We had a lot of high winds this yea. At Oulton park loads of tents were being flattened, mine was steady as a rock. Instead of sorting mine out for a change I was helping others to secure their tents.
Shame it does not have a sig otherwise a good tent to have.
