7 Reviews of the Mohawk 5

Used this tent for first time this year.Room in sleep section for one adult plus two children including large travel cot and odd baby equipment. There is a lot of room in the outer section, again had loads of baby stuff plus airbed and coolbox with electric hook up.Still room for children to sit on floor and play. This tent is a 3000 head so no worries about rain! I did for get about the mozzies at night though,I slept in outer bit to leave room for the rest of family in sleep compartment and got bitten quite a bit.Mozzie net next time!
Easy to put up,took two of us ten mins.

Bought this tent earlier this year and have now used it approx four times. First use was VERY wet for three days, with strong winds. The tent stood up well to the weather with no leaks, although water did come in off the front door when it was opened and the wind blew it in. The sewn in ground sheet is great and it folds upwards and attaches by toggles either side at the doors to prevent the rain coming in underneath the entrances. However, the doors sit against the groundsheet and as others have said, the front door does flap around rather a lot in the wind and my little dog had no problem letting himself in and out when he felt like it which was a bit of a nuisance! I think sewing some velcro at the bottom of the doors and the groundsheet should solve the problem and stop the wind getting in and the dog getting out! Plenty of space in the living area and the bedroom will fit two double airbeds comfortably. The tent is very easy to erect and although there were two of us I think one person could easily put it up with no problem. All in all it is a great tent and I would recommend it.

We have been using our Mohawk 5 for the past couple of years and we love it. It is easy to put up and provides ample space for sleeping, cooking, eating or just chilling. We have recently purchased a Lichfield carpet as we were camping earlier this year and this made it even more cosy and warm.
Our only complaint would be the lack of cover over the doors for when it is raining. We are now looking for a suitable porch for it. We have had no problems with leakage but are planning to apply the fabsil soon anyway.
Would definitely recommend this for two adults and I am sure there is enough space for a couple of small children as well.

A spacious easily erected family tent with excellent head room. A token dividing curtain in the sleeping area which was not really used.
This tent did let in a few drips when first tested in the garden in the smallest of rain showers, however this wasn't too much of an issue when taking it for its virgin trip to Hurley campsite, had a few showers but no obvious seepage (and I haven't treated it) but I was fully aware it is only 2000HH. I did not have high expectations for this tent because ultimately you get what you pay for, and I think I paid about £100 for mine from a leading shopping website. It has been sitting inside my shed for the last two years and have only just taken it out for the first May bank holiday 2011. Yes the tent is a bit flappy and a draughty as no sealed in ground sheet, but I overcame this by simply clipping the ground sheet to the fly sheet all around with 20 or so 'Holdon' tarp clips they are amazing. My tent was snug and warm and no draughts. Yes the wind did get under the ground sheet a bit but some strategically placed bits of furniture sorted that out. I enjoyed this tent for its ease of erection and space and the fact that it didn't weigh too much on my old banger. It took a real beating on the late May day bank holiday with winds at least 15mph and two of the tent poles finally split but surprisingly remained in situ albeit a little twisted. I will not be dumping this humble tent but will replace the poles may be with some Outwell ones and give it a fabisil makeover and launch it out again. Have enjoyed camping in it as a two man tent ample space. But be warned this is just a light weight weekender tent and if you bear this is mind you won't be disappointed

At last the kids had flown the nest, time to get rid of the extremely heavy 'tenement tent' The mohawk is a very spacious tent for just the 2 of us, and all our gear. The wife tends to brink the kitchen and the sink with her.
The tent has withstood a very bad storm/high winds without leaking, although I agree that the anchor points on the front of the tent could be improved, we attached a couple of elastic anchor points around the front edge below the windows and that has cured the 'flapping' problem, and stops any rain water being blown in.
I'm over 6ft and find I can move about with ease, there is plenty of room for a large double mattress and all your clothing bags/cases in the sleeping area. Two adults can sit or spread out in comfort in the living area if it happens to be cold outside. The 2 entrance ways are a boon should the wind direction change, the front being able to open up fully to allow the evening sun to be enjoyed, while you stay out of the breeze.
The tent is easily and quickly erected by the 2 of us in around 15 minutes, but would probably go up in 10 if we rushed it. We find the Mohawk very good value for money, well constructed, and although probably one of the most inexpensive tents we have owned it's turning out to be a real favourite. If you need a good tent for 2-4 adults, a good looker, and a dry nights sleep, you can't go wrong with this one.

This tent has ample living and bedroom space and is reasonably easy to put up, even with just two of us. It has the added benefit of a bath-tub groundsheet which covers the whole floor of the tent, including under the bedroom compartment, so effectively you have a double ground sheet under the bedroom. However, the tent has very limited pegging points at the front of the tent, which unfortunately means that in bad weather wind gets under the tent and blows this huge groundsheet up and down even though there are toggles to attach it to the tent walls. High wind also forces the groundsheet to go outside the tent, which lets in more water than a standard flat groundsheet.
However, the most disappointing aspect of this tent was its waterproofing. This was a brand new tent which we also waterproofed, yet water came through the roof into the living area after only a couple of hours moderate rain. Although this is a relatively cheap tent, I've never experienced this with any other new tent, even in those that were cheaper still. As a result this tent was sent to the recycling plant after only one weeks use, and I would not recommend it to anyone unless they are sure of completely dry weather!

The Lichfield Mohawk is a lightweight, easy to pitch family tent with a hydrostatic head of 2000mm and a sewn in ground sheet. When we pitched the tent, it went up in one and the bedroom pod was already attached.
There was plenty of room in the bedroom for two adults and two children plus sleeping mats (Fat Airics) and sleeping bags. The spacious living area provided plenty of storage space plus sitting room when it was raining outside. There are two doors (one to the front and one to the side) so we were able to maximise the airing of the tent.
Unfortunately, the tent does not come with a porch area which would have been useful to provide protection from the sun and the rain. Consequently, we will be purchasing a tent canopy before our next camping trip.
The tent withstood prolonged heavy rain (about 3 hours) without springing a leak so we were extremely impressed with this aspect. There are floor flaps around the door area which when erected, prevented the ingress of water.
We would have also liked something in the middle of the ceiling in the living area to hang our torch. In the end, we used one of the ties near the front door.
The tent is quite high so even if you are 6ft tall, you will not be bumping your head. There are also three small windows which provide adequate views to the outside.
Overall, we are delighted with the Lichfield Mohawk. It is excellent value for money, lightweight, spacious and constructed to a very high standard. If you are a family who are new to camping, this is an inexpensive but high quality tent to get you started.
