1 Reviews of the 10T Navaho 470+

By: Uksnowie  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2011   Rating:

I don't know the year tent is manufactured and I selected random year number.

This tent is the same shape with Sunncamp Tepee 500 DL, with the slightly shorter in height comparing the diagrams both makers provide.

We are fairly new to camping and this is the first our own tent. We are a family of three (me, my husband and 7 years old daughter). Our daughter and I wanted teepee tent, my husband wanted inner tent for sleeping. We did not want to spend more than £300, that is maximum.

Since there was not much review about both this tent and the maker, I read reviews of Sunncamp Tepee 500 DL as well and took a big gamble. I am glad I did. I would say this is one of the low budget luxury tent. I ordered it from German online shop directly to pay less. Delivery was swift, arrived less than a week.

We are probably the wimpiest campers you could ever imagine, and this tent helped us survive a weekend camping at the end of September VERY comfortably. Although it is classified as a 5 berth tent, I believe you can use the living space for sleeping as well. Kids might love to sleep in there like having a sleepover. Colour is really nice.

*** Put up***

Put it up was easy as usual tunnel tent. We took long time as a newbie camper, but I am sure it will be quicker with practice.

Poles were colour coded and easy to assemble.

Down side was that there are 50 pegs in the bag and we really should use at least 35 pegs (by being very lazy + under not windy condition.) It was a bit painful and taking most of the pitching time, but I guess having a lot of guy ropes is a common factor for all bell and teepee tent.

We used tarp underneath the tent, which added bit more time, but glad we used it.

*** Space ***

++++ Sleeping compartment ++++

Big enough to put INTEX Deluxe Queen Size Raised Air Bed 67736 side way, and also INTEX Deluxe Single Raised Air Bed 66721 very snugly. The divider can still be zipped down with this layout. Without raised airbed, probably 4 adult would be able to sleep very comfortably. I think 5 adult could be a bit tight.

++++ Living space ++++

Really spacious. Because of the slope sides, I was expecting it would feel smaller, but the very high celling make it look & feel REALLY big. We could use full floor. I assume at least 6 adult sleeping bags could be laid there very comfortably with bags and more.

It is well enclosed and very comfortable space.

We could inflate & deflate air beds in this space which kept the beds clean all the time.

Finding bits and clothes was very easy because we could spread everything on the floor. We are very messy family….

++++ Canopy area ++++

Good size to leave a 70cm width storage box, cool boxes, shoes etc. We had good weather so I cannot say how good/bad to protect us from rain, but looked decent depth of cover over entrance.

We could put Coleman Classic Awning over this canopy.

*** Quality & Feature ***

I think this is very good quality for the price.

As all polyester tents, this one gets hot as well, but it worked fine for us for camping in Autumn.

Entrance had secondary mesh zipper closure. It was useful for quick and really good ventilation while keep insects out.

Floor sheet was okay, I did not feel it is particularly thick so we shall keep using tarp underneath just in case.

Windows were nice and really big with blinds.

Every zip is good quality.

Centre pole has a triangular shaped hook at around 250cm high so we were struggling reaching to it, but once we managed to hung string fairy lights, it lit up the whole space really nicely.

Electric cable entry is placed close to the floor near the inner tent. It was the very handy feature for inflate/deflate air beds.

There are hooks inside of inner tent (one each for divided rooms), and one outside the inner tent.

Guy ropes are not visible in the night and we tripped over many times. We need to buy light or fluorescent tape for our safety.

I do not think there is extension option with this tent, but we had more than enough space inside. (and outside under Coleman Classic Awning.)

*** Stability ***

We had a slightly windy day so I am not sure how it would perform against strong winds I’m afraid. We did not use full set of guy ropes but we still did not feel it is wobbly or noisily flapping at all. We could feel the wind coming through the vents, flapping the inner tent and making little noise which was quite pleasant and reminded me the tent has a really good ventilation.

*** Condensation ***

We did not notice any condensation on this tent this time, first time use in warm day at the end of September. Luckily we did not get any rain so I cannot comment on leaking.

*** Take down ***

We messed up taking down the tent in the windy condition by pulling out all the pegs first, which made the tent a huge balloon. (The wind changed by the time we pack it up and it was blowing directly into our tent.) It was a big laugh and made children excited and jump on it. Next time we will make sure leaving 4 corner pegs and take poles down from back of the tent, and cross fingers it will work.

*** Bag ***

Quite heavy tent so I was drugging the bag mostly, that was a bit worrying. I have not make any hole yet though.

It is very generously sized bag so it was easy to put the tent back in this bag.

All in all, we are very pleased with the tent. Easy to spot from distance, looks fantastic in the night when the light is up inside. I felt it was a bit too big for a camping novice family of three, but I am sure the space will be very handy, especially under rainy condition, and also the longer than a weekend camping which we are planning to do next year.
