3 Reviews of the Asda Ozark Trail 4

By: Vantage  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2015   Rating:

This is Asdas Ozark Trail branded 4 person camping tent. Not the instant as detailed elsewhere.

I believe this is an updated version of an older design by the same company and looks to go back as far as 2013 for its first release. It maybe older.

My fiancee and I jointly bought this as I'm trying to get her into the outdoorsy lifestyle and didn't want to spend too much incase she didn't take to it.

My own first outing in this was in my mum's back garden with my two young daughters as I didn''t want to find out that it leaked 40 miles from home.

Putting it up for the first time without trial wasn't too difficult. Inner first though which maybe an issue if it's pouring. There are 3 fibreglass poles. 2 for the main sleeping area and 1 for the porch. These go in first before pegging then the outer goes on with the 3rd pole and more pegging. It's stable at this point even before fitting the guy lines.

A vent on the roof with twin openings did a good job of allowing condensation to escape during a warm rainy night with 3 occupants. This can be closed if needed. There is a single hook on the ceiling for a tent light and 2 double pockets for valuables on either side of the tent. A further (pointless) opening for an electric hookup on the right hand side of the inner door. This door is double skinned with one being a bug proof mesh affair. Both skins are single zipped and roll open downwards. The outer door to the outside is only single skinned but can be partially opened by one of two zips either side. Fully open, it's rolled upwards and tied at the top. Two windows either side of the door have sewn in curtains for privacy and are closed with velcro tabs. The porch area has a groundsheet but I found it collecting rainwater if fully extended.

No leaks were spotted although it wasn't particularly heavy rain. The wind was calm too so can't comment on its hurricane resistance.

Overall for 40 quid I'm quite pleased with it :)

Here's hoping the future missus is as enthusiastic.

Great little tent. Easy to put up, even singlehandedly. Three of us used it. Two double airbeds fit in snugly. Good sized porch, albeit a bit small but fine for a few nights away. Now the bad points. Low headroom (we're used to 6ft +). Inner door only zips one way, from left to right so has to be fully opened if you want to get out. Awkward in the night really. Condensation build up was really quite high, even though we only used net door at night, was very hot, and inner tent stuck to outer sheet. Changed position of guy ropes etc to no avail. Just wanted a few nights away in an easy put up, non fancy tent and that's what we got.

Excellent sized 4 man tent, altough I only ever use it as a 3 man tent as I like to have extra space, easily assembled it recommends 2 person asssembly however its easy enough to assemble on your own,

Fly over top of inner is rated as showerproof but managed to withstand a torrential downpour without any seeping through. Little porch area at front with window panels at sides is ideal for storage space or for sitting under the shade.

Excellent little tent , good value for money and very easy to assemble etc.
