1 Reviews of the MSR Hubba HP
By: Marclewis Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2013 Rating:
I purchased the MSR Hubba HP for a kayak trip down the Thames, starting at Cricklade. Here are my thoughts on it.
Pitching is very quick as per video ( http://youtu.Be/SHR5YynBg5I ) I purchased a footprint for the tent (for protecting groundsheet) & mudmat for the vestibule (for storing items on) at the same time. The poles are precision made and connect and come apart very easily. The main pole ends connect to the 4 corners of the groundsheet of the inner and this creates a hoop, the short crossover pole goes over the top of the main pole and the inner then clips to the main and crossover poles. The fly then clips to the crossover pole and the 4 corners by the groundsheet. You have to make sure the door is on the correct side.
On the opposite side of the door at the top of the fly, a small vent held open by a stiffener that velcros together provides ventilation to minimise condensation. The headroom is great and I'm 6' tall. It has a couple of lower storage pockets depending on which way around you sleep and a useful gear loft at the top of the inner. The inner tent fabric is mainly solid white, luxurious and has bug netting at the top, plus left & right top corners. The zip door on the fly is the waterproof type and not covered by a flap. The size of the floor area is just about right for my 20 in x 72 in (500mm x 1800mm) sleeping air pad. I really enjoyed this tent on my camping trip down the River Thames, as it was fast to pitch and take down. I have since brought the gear shed that fits to a Hubba tent (1, 2 & 3 man) and this provides some extra storage if required. I also purchased the MSR glow in the dark zip pulls.
Overall a brilliant tent with good ventilation and lots of pitching options that I would thoroughly recommend.

Manufacturer's Description
https://www.msrgear.com
Ultralight and freestanding, the solo Hubba HP tent weighs less than the original Hubba™ tent, yet offers increased protection for unexpected early-season snowfalls or persistent coastal winds. Greater coverage to the tent canopy and lighter fabrics all-around ensure that the Hubba HP tent holds its own in more serious 3-season conditions, yet still weighs in at well under 3 lbs (1.36kg).
Reliable Protection: Fabric canopy delivers increased warmth and protection from blowing snow, sand, and wind. Livable: Unique pole configuration provides maximum interior space, a Stay-Dry™ entrance, and large vestibule for storing gear. Quick and Easy Setup: All-in-one hub-and-swivel pole design is strong and simple to use. Versatile: Can be used as a double-wall tent for full protection or in two freestanding tarp-shelter modes: with optional footprint (sold separately), or just the fly and poles only for the ultimate in weight savings. Additional Features: Pass-through vented fly, three-pass, 10,000mm DuraShield™-coated bathtub floor, (2) internal pockets.
