1 Reviews of the Mountain Hardwear Muir Trail
By: Peaker Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2001 Rating:
Ive had this tent for nearly ten years now and have had it pitched in places from campsites to mountain tops in the UK. Ive used it on hot summer days and in freezing winter storms. It has withstood strong winds, rain and snow and never struggled to cope. It is easy to pitch, but the inner can get wet as it is pitched first, if you have to pitch in rain. But it is easy to pitch on your own even in strong winds and can be up in minutes. It is light enough to carry by yourself and gives you the extra room for your rucksack and gear and has a porch for cooking and storing of wet gear and boots etc. The inner top panel can be zipped out to reveal a window in the fly if you want to check on the weather or just look at the sky. This also helps with ventilating the tent on hot days and if it is really hot with no chance of rain you can leave the fly off altogether.
There are plenty of pockets inside for stowing bits and bobs and has internal guys for when the weather gets too rough but I have never used them as the external guys do enough and if the tail end of the tent is into the wind it is virtually indestructible.
