As an update, I have now used this in some miserable, wet and cold conditions, and it worked (for me as a first time hammocker) extremely well. It was secure, flat, comfortable, warm and dry. The cargo or storage shelf inderneath worked very well, keeping everything secure and dry. If you are interested to try a hammock, and don't want to sleep like a banana,like fidgeting, side sleeping or whatever, this is definitely worth a look.

This is my first foray into hammocking; I've always shied away from sleeping like a banana, and all the other paraphanalia that advocates seem to require supplementary to the hammock, such as underquilts, all sorts of ridge lines, drip lines and tarp. A bulky and time consuming set up.

But.There are places where a hammock is a desirable sleep system.

My curiosity was piqued when I discovered 'lay flat' systems, and further, those that came complete with rain flys, and utilised simple straps rather than loads of string!

This is exactly what this sytem encompasses, simple, complete, and lay flat. AND it doubles as a very roomy bivvy tent when used on the ground: a two in one system!

The whole package is fairly compact and comes in a convenient bag, all weighing no more than 3.5 kgs and was bought for Ł149 delivered from Outdoor Gear Essentials.

It is all specified to take loads to 400kg.

It seems all well made and designed with a good mozzy net with good zips, that stays off your face, a robust base (with a rubbery coating on the underside) and it comes with a clip on cargo shelf to keep rucksacks or whatever dry and off the ground. It realy does seem an impressive package.So far.

Two small criticisms.One it is only 7 foot long, so those over 6 foot are going to find it a trifle short.

Also the tie backs for the outer fly ( which can be poled up like an awning) are too far out wards, leaving precious little to hold. They need moving in.

I have yet to use it all in anger, so more to follow?
