1 Reviews of the Westfield Taurus 5
By: TrippLoso Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2016 Rating:
Decided to start camping again at age of 50, partly because my wife wanted to try it !
Our needs were quite simple.
1. We needed to be able to stand up inside the tent (nothing worse than crawling around trying to get dressed)
2. The tent needed to have a living area (in case outside got wet)
3. Tent needed to be easy to erect
4. Compact when stored
5. Strong and would last
I can stand up inside the tent main area, the bedroom sections drop down a bit but nothing to worry about. I am 5' 10'.
We slept in one bedroom section and used the other as storage / changing room. This was great for us, and even if you had 2 children it would provide more than adequate space.
The main living area is a good size, we had the tables and chairs in there when it rained and we didn't feel cramped.
Air frame technology - this tent is really easy to erect, just pump up 3 air beams, peg down and clip in the inner tent, absolutely brilliant design that got a lot of comments from other campers. It has a sew in ground sheet so nothing can get in once zipped up.
Size when stored - occupies about 1/2 of my boot (Ford Focus), can also get in the boot double sleeping bag, stove table and double table, plus a few other nuts and bolts packaged around it. I can carry this myself and erect myself.
This tent survived a very stormy night on the Isle of Harris, where other tents did not. I was extremely impressed with its strength, make sure you guy it out wide for windy days.
You could buy a pole tent this size for half the price, we compared this to them and the air frame technology really is worth the money.
I would recommend this tent to any couple wanting some space in their tent and anyone with 1 or 2 children, or 4 adults.
I would definitely recommend you buy one.
