1 Reviews of the Esprit Pro X 390
By: Stu71 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2022 Rating:
This is a caravan awning designed to compete with the top end kampa/ Vango ranges with a high density material and as such the first thing to note is the weight, it’s heavy !
There are no poles needed, although they are supplied for sealing against the van itself. This means you are lifting a lot of weight to fit onto the van. I purchased a second bag to store the end panels. It’s still heavy to carry.
It’s a two person install although if you use the Kampa pulley system (about 30 quid at present) it could be done by one person but it’s a challenge due to the weight.
We are on our second outing at present. On the first it rained and the awning held up well, no leaks at all, which you would expect at this spec.
This time we are in the open with wind gusts around 30-35mph. On day one we had issues with the awning buckling under the wind stress to the point I was regretting buying it. However by repositioning the air poles more vertically (particularly the centre one) the issue was resolved.
The poles inflate easily ( I got the 12v inflator thrown it to the deal as we purchased other items at the same time). The lock off system seems a good idea if you suffered a puncture.
Packing away is no worse than any other awning other than the weight.
Overall It’s a decent awning, although I personally prefer poles and I suspect I won’t get 12 years out of this like my old Kampa Rally 390, but maybe I’ll be surprised.
Did I mention it’s heavy ?
