5 Reviews of the Starcamper 8
By: Mark greenwood Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2008 Rating:
Used the tent a number of times from purchase and does only take 30 minutes to put up.Like all other reviews wouldn't like to sleep 8 but ideal for 4 or the 3 of us as it is now, myself, wife & 14 year old son.The only drawback is as the tent is quite light in colour it does get light early.Stood up to heavy rain and strong winds in France so no real negatives.

I have the 2008 model and it is a different colour which is the only difference the tent is brilliant and is really easy to put up we have had wind, rain and dew and its been really good there are 6 of us 2 adults and a 3,8,11 and 13 year old and there is plenty of room the living area is big enough for the kids to play in on wet days but they do get under your feet, in a few days we are trying 10 people which will be my six and 2 more adults and a 3 and 5 year old so I'll let you know how it goes, The only downside is the fact that Outdoor Revolution do not make a carpet for it and being a diamond shape you can not buy one for it its strange as they make a matching porch, porta tent and wind breaks which we don't have but would look really great.
This is our first tent and we found it quick and easy to put up my 13 year old daughter and Myself put this tent up quite easy.

We used our starcamper 8 for the first time last week,we had heavy dew in the morning and drips started to form on the inside of the roof of the tent, which then made the inner tent slightly wet,and caused drips to drop on the ground sheet.I would hate to think what would of happened if it had rained!
We cut our holiday short and took a detour to camping international and exchanged the tent for another brand new one, which we will be trying out in two weeks.Fingers crossed x
Apart from the hiccup the tent is a wonderful size and it will be a shame if this one leaks too.
The colour is also good as it lets a lot of light in even on miserable days.I will keep you updated on how the new tent bares up.

Just came back from a 5 night stay in Folkestone for the first camping venture in this tent.
It was fantastic!
Easy to erect and didn't take too long, as the other reviewer said, about 30 minutes.
We had really heavy rain, winds gusting up to about 40mph and we had no problems at all in this tent. No leaks, draughts, broken poles, ripped zips or anything. I know this tent is intended for 8 people, but with us 4, (me, hubby, son aged 8 and daughter aged 5) it was perfect. Plenty of room for the kids to play inside when it was raining (luckily most of the rain was at night, we only lost one morning to rain!) and loads of room in the bedroom pods. I wouldn't like to fit 8 into this tent as I think it would be too snug. But for a family of 4 or 5 it was more than adequate. Loads of headroom in the living area, hubby is 6ft6” and he didn’t reach the top, and he was able to sleep comfortably in the pod without feeling scrunched up.
The fully sewn in groundsheet was great (our last tent didn’t have one and I was rapidly going off camping with the rain and draughts etc)
We got this tent from Camping International in Gillingham for a really good price of £169.00.
Overall, this is very well made and excellent value for money for such a good quality tent.

I have only just received this tent from Tamworth Camping and it is great !. Goes up easily (32 minutes on first attempt). It was quite windy when we tested it but no problems. Excellent quality, very spacious.Enough space to put our large double bed in the sleeping compartment lengthways so we can get out of bed without disturbing each other (those new Coleman airbeds with separate compartments are great). Plenty of space in the living area with lots of headroom, this, coupled with light fabric, gives a bright airy space. The fully sewn in groundsheet makes it easy to erect the tent square with no wrinkles. Although there is no cable input point it is easy to feed it through the unused door quite safely. Little built in storage but the pockets in the bedrooms are perfect for reading books etc. Although advertised as an 8 person tent it is, like all others, great and spacious enough for a family of 4 or 5. Looking forward to taking our Starcamper to the Loire in 5 weeks time.

Manufacturer's Description
Brand new for 2008 is the Starcamper 8 in the striking new chocolate and cream colourway. The versatile vis-à-vis style is increasingly popular with families and groups of campers alike. The groundsheet is fully sewn in and the flysheet is erected first, ensuring the inners can be kept dry when erecting in inclement weather.
The pre bent steel angles and fiberglass poles ensure there is maximum headroom in the main living compartment and the hexagonal shape means a table and chairs can be placed inside whilst still allowing room to walk round to the inner compartments. The Hydrostatic Head is 3000mm, achieved by use of the branded REVTEX3000 fabric
3000mm Hydrastatic head Fully taped seams
