2 Reviews of the Alamosa 6ATC
By: BenHodgson Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2016 Rating:
Simon W who already reviewed this tent said it all. The only downside is the heavy bag so be prepared to strip some stuff out of it or find a more manageable bag! After 20 years in a super Cabanon frame tent we were not sure about it at all - until ten minutes into our pitch - a fantastic tent 9.75 out of 10.

The ONLY reason I didn't score a 10 is simply that there are a couple of points that would have made this the perfect tent - but its so close to a 10 should be 9.75
First off this is an amazing canvas palace - its looks are fantastic its quality all the way ! If you are lucky enough to have bought one of these this year then I'm sure you will have loved every moment of your purchase because sadly Outwell have not only raised the price by £300 to £2000 for the 2017 version - but they have also taken away the lovely soft mushroom and black colourways - and replaced it with dark green and silver for the 2017 model and taken away the candy stripes from the bedroom pods - a backward step if ever I saw one - so owners of the original 2016 model please be assured that your tent is not going to depreciate at all !
I bought mine at a slightly end of season discount price of £1675 including the brilliant front awning - and its a lovely bit of kit - unfortunately due to personal circumstances I haven't actually been away in it - but its been erected to test and checked and im so happy with it - its warm and soft mushroom colour tones and its dark grey tinted windows give a great feeling and ambiance - and the detachable front awning is a real must have gives so much space !
Its a looker too - and the whole package is just great - I have no regrets about changing from a 2008 Bearlake 6
Where the Bearlake was slightly better was in its 2 bag design - these heavy tents need to split into 2 bags as one 55 kilo bag is just too big and too heavy - also the bearlake had a better and stronger and more durable zip off ground sheet - the new design of the Alamosa gives you a fixed sealed and built in ground sheet that is lesser quality than the old Bearlake -
The other niggle is that being an air tent its not really possible to add a side extension to detach coking activities from the main hub of the tent-
Other that these small issues - its a lovely bit of kit - its handsome to look at - gives loads of space - and privacy from the tinted windows and solid canvas sections - its massive front canopy is fantastic and the option to add the matching awning really give the wow factor - its easy to put up and very quiet and stable - and I cant think of a better tent out there at the moment - so yes Im really happy with it and I would say this - get the 2016 model while you still can - it looks fantastic - it is fantastic - and the extra £300 quid for the 2017 model will get you nothing at all other that a dark green tent that just doesn't have the same appeal at all !
