3 Reviews of the Arrow Lake
By: Slimtoffee Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2008 Rating:
I've owned an arrow lake since 2009. Once erected these polycotton Outwell tents are the top of the range for comfort and withstanding anything our weather can throw at it. If you have no restrictions on room or weight during transit, look no further. The big disadvantage however is the size, weight and some design faults. The doors are sloped at an angle where the rain gets in when entering or leaving and the front compartment is small when zipped up. We have got over this by buying 2 different extensions, not designed for the arrow lake but satisfactory to use with our tent. Our tent is very heavy and takes up a lot of room and weight in our vehicle. As I mentioned before once you get the tent to where it's going and get settled it is an absolute pleasure. All in all I still really enjoy our tent however if I had my time over again would probably go for the cheaper Outwell range as these would be fine for summer camping and easier to transport if a little less quality and good looking.

Update! Used the Arrow lake again this year for 2 weeks. Excellent tent. No leaking at all despite heavy rain. It is a real shame that outwell only make a side extension - the front is where it would really be most useful, so you can still sit out when there's the odd shower. Thinking of buying a tarp or universal extension for next year. The diagrams have been corrected too!

The arrow lake has 2 bedrooms, not 3 as per the layout diagram pictured here.
After much research finally opted for this tent. Went away for 2 weeks (2 adults, 3 kids) in it in Dorset last August. Put it up in torrential rain, but 2 of us did it OK - it is heavy, but not that hard to put up. We had some minor leaks that night - I think as a result of not weathering it. Once dried it did not leak again despite more torrential rain that week - stayed nice and dry. Also stood up to gale force winds (secured guys with delta pegs though). The porch area is great for muddy shows etc and keeps the main tent clean - we had the outwell carpet and this with the ZIG and polycotton it was warm (other half appreciated the lack of draughts under the flysheet we had in our other tent.) Could do with a canopy attachment, they make them for the side, but the front would be better idea - might look into this for 2009. The reasons its not 10/10 are: 1) The rain drips into the porch area when you use the front doors. 2) It is big and heavy so takes up a lot of space in the car. 3) There were some stitching errors on seams -looked like it had been sewn in wrong place and then unpicked and left tiny holes.
Overall we are really happy with it.
