I have this tent. Also have the birdland 4 with front extension. Adore my 2016 model birdy 3 as we call it. Fits 3 people easily unless you are all fat lol. We camped August bank holiday in Somerset. It was torrential rain all day on the Sunday and we were so bored that we had bets on which way the blobs of water would run off the roof but more importantly not one drop came into the tent. I kid you not! There is a reason Outwell tents are expensive. They do everything they promise to do!

I bought an Outwell Birdland 3, last year 2017 and used it for the first time this year, 2018. The steel pole bent and broke at the join. I contacted Outwell - they told me to go to my supplier Blacks, Blacks didn't stock spares nor could they source them. Very poor customer service from Blacks. The customer service and support from Outwell is non-existent! I managed to source a replacement pole from Scottish Mountain Gear, it took 3 weeks to arrive. But since then, whilst erecting the tent with the steel pole I do so gingerly. I am overall happy with the tent, very spacious, I'm over 6' and can stand up in sleeping and living areas. Plenty of sleeping and living space for 2. Very easy to erect, takes me about 15-20 minutes on my own. Good mesh vents keep the bugs out and good ventilation, very little condensation. Plenty of storage pockets. Plenty of little loops to hang things from including a clothes line! The plastic pegs do bend and tips break in the hard ground this hot summer. Overall a very good tent for 2, it does get my recommendation but be wary of the steel pole, when erecting - the sleeve must be dead centre otherwise the pole can't cope with the stress! Erect steel pole first, get this right and there shouldn't be a problem. I've used it 4 times so far this summer with no problems. Can't comment on how it will hold up in high winds due to this magnificent summer we are having.

I have just bought this tent and though it was a great tent however, there is one big problem. The welds on the steel poles are not up to the job. On first day use one of the poles split requiring us to get a replacement tent. The next tent on day 2 with new tent and new poles the steel pole split again. The tension across the front of the tent is too great. As there is no contact for the company I can not find out if this issue is being addressed. I like the tent but how many times should I replace the tent under warranty to find one which is not faulty?

After getting wet last year in Brecon with 2 small hike tents, I decided to buy a bigger tent with porch, that I could still pitch on my own if necessary. After much debating between the Birdland 3 and a Coleman Vespucci, I decided on this as I got 15% off at Millets and got it for Ł238, the best deal I could get by far. Just back from 3 nights up at North Wales. Pitching is exceptionally easy and once used to it, can be managed by 1 person (it wasn't windy mind,that could need 2). Although not windy, the tent felt very sturdy and it certainly kept us dry, as it rained for 2 of the 3 days. 3 nice windows and plenty of room for what I need, I'm pleased with it as it's proved it's worth on my first use. My only concerns were that the poles sounded a bit creaky, that may have just been first used though and that the guy ropes were a little bit of a fiddle.

This tent is great. We bought an Outwell tent because whilst camping in our previous very cheap tent, we noticed how sturdy(and dry)the Outwell tents looked. We chose this model because you can stand up in it (even if you are 6 foot tall)it is spacious for 2 people, extremely sturdy and doesn't let in water. It is easy to put up and take down and seems to be wearing well. We have just returned from 5 weeks camping in our tent and did the same last Summer. Last year we forgot the inner fly bedroom area but actually got used to not having it. We now often choose to not use it to give even more space.

Our only criticism would be the door - sometimes awkward to get into and because of the angle - rain can get in when it is open.

I needed a tent that I could easily pitch on my own or with the help of an 8 yr old. This can be pitched by 1 person but it is much easier to shout 'hold that pole still' to a child. Have camped twice now in poor weather, high winds and it feels stable. Because of the shape and angle of the door it is much better with the Birdland 3 awning as this prevents the rain coming in and makes the tent much bigger. The sleeping area is a good size for 2 persons but we have slept 2 adults and 1 child as a double air bed and a roll mat will fit. The optional fitted carpet adds comfort and looks good. The tent is warm because of the fitted groundsheet and it can stop the bugs from getting in too. I have used this tent for 3 holidays and it is still in new condition (except the pegs that I have hit to death). I would buy a tent of this spec again.

Great wee tent to start with. Had it a year, used about six times and one of the poles has snapped already. Outwell are saying it's not their fault and we have to contact the seller. How is it their fault?? Customer service zero. Tent is great apart from that. I can stand up in it what more do I need

This is perhaps the smuggest tent in the world. And rightfully so!

Having grown up camping, it's been a few years since I've been and it's a relatively new hobby for my boyfriend!

Aside from the step by step guide online the instructions are fool proof and we pitched in no time at all straight from the box!

Every time we thought 'wouldn't it be useful if?' There was a hook or zip where we needed it!

As with all tents the three birth was perfect for the two of us, an airbed and bags.

Buy it now. Perfect for a quick getaway when it's going to be a sunny weekend!

We'll post another review closer to Autumn to see how it stands up in cooler weather!

I have one of these tents and cant fault it. It has a large bedroom at the rear. This may be a struggle for 3 people as with most '3 man' tents. There's also ample room in the living area for a kitchen storage table and an aluminium roll up table with enough space left for a couple of chairs for lounging around in. The only floor I could find with this tent is the sloping door. On a wet camping trip, this could cause a problem when you unzip the door as it would let water run into the bottom/front of the living area. This is I guess why the 2014 version comes with a small canopy over the front. To overcome this slight issue I have been looking for the official birdland front extension but to no avail. This seems almost impossible to get hold of and I have since brought an easycamp Boston 400 extension with fits just perfect.

A note on the pitching and packing away of the Birdland 3, this is faily simple and took 2 of us 15 mins to erect and 20 mins on my own to dismantle and pack away.

I'd strongly recommend this tent if you are looking for a reliable, quality 2/3 person tent. At Ł180 for the tent and carpet combind (brand new), it was a steal!

I cannot say this is the perfect tent, but it is perfect for me. I wanted a tent I could put up all by myself, big enough to invite a friend to join me on a camping trip, and also high enough to stand up in.

I have read some comments about this tent not being easy to put up, but let me assure you that this is not true. Once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake, even for an old age pensioner like myself. When alone it takes me approximately 30 minutes to put up, and that includes the front extension. But that's with me taking my time. I am sure it can be put up in half that time.

Just lay the tent out flat on the ground, peg all four corners down, then fit the main central pole with the pole laying flat on the ground. Now bring the central pole into the upright position. My photo shows the tent at this stage, and it will stay upright for as long as you like while you fit the other two poles. Simple.

My only gripe concerning this tent is as someone has already mentioned, the fact that the door does not zip up along the bottom which could lead to water entering the tent. It has only happened to me once but is not a problem when you have a front extension fitted, and believe you me, that extension makes all difference to your camping experience.
