This was the first time we had used the Carolina, we bought it as our weekender tent. So first time with no kids too!

It's a great tent I loved it, loads of room inside.

Very steady in the wind this weekend, it's not noisy either. I don't like the rustle noises some tents make.

Easy and quick to put up and take down.

I really can't praise the tent enough but as it's made by Outwell, you expect quality and value for money.

See photo's 'Carolina M (pitch in the NL 1-5)'. I bought this tent in November 2012 with a 50% discount as a Carolina M from 2010. When I opened up the bag last week to try and test it, it appeared to be the 2012 Deluxe version. Everything 'The Outwell Guy' tells on youtube about this tent is true! It is deluxe. It is by far the most luxurious tent we have owned for many years (and to come!).

We are a married couple, no kids, and we will probably really enjoy the spacious living in this tent. Owning a caravan my wife said to me, after inspecting the tent (see photo's Carolina M (pitch in the NL)' perhaps we should sell our caravan. So if you're looking for a hotel-like-room with a view and with all details such as wind stabilizer system tested up to a force nine gale. Choose this tent if you are still able to buy it! Our photo's of our Scotland journey in 2013 will appear online once we are back.

A great tent. But before any buy. Please visit as much sites or shops as possible. I'm measuring 2m5 and I am able to walk in this Carolina M, although I never stood in one in any shop in The Netherlands. The 'Outwell Guy' convinced me On youtube. So I bought it online in Belgium and thought. Lets give it a try. All my reservations to buy something I have never seen real life are gone. Outwell is quality! And remember we Dutchies are very fond/seen as of sitting first rank without paying. So believe me, this is true money-well-spend!

When pitching make sure that you put all guylines before the poles. So you don't have to remove the poles from their settings. We pitched the tent in just under 20 minutes for the very time. So with some effort and training it would be possible to pitch in 10 minutes with 2 persons. Alone it would take some extra time I guess. Inside the tent it is space all over the place! Curtains that work properly, a comfortable 2 man-sleeping area already raised when pitting.) What more could you want?

Please note that some hooks of the inner tent may not be secured on the outer tent while pitching the first time. Just unclip some of the inner tent hooks and you're able to fix it. I Bought some extra velcro (klittenband, if your Dutch) at a camping shop to secure the opening gap at the entrance (since I read on this forum this would be needed) but the 2012 model has far more velcro around the front door - but. For the 2012 deluxe edition this is not needed (yet)! Still we have to test the tent. So the velcro is in our luggage.

Around the end of June 2013 I will upload photo's of our first Ourtwell journey with Carolina M, witch stands for 'Mooi!' In Dutch this means 'Great! / Beautiful! More end of June. Buy this tent! Outwell does what is says on the package: Innovative camping!

We have been camping for a few years now and bought this tent last year. It is the best tent we have bought (so far!). Sold as a three man tent I would imagine it would be a bit tight in the bedroom for three adults, only two of us, but maybe O.K. With small child in tow. It caught our attention at a tent show because of the good visibility offered all round and the size of the living space. We found it easy to sit six people with chairs and table plus our donkey and boxes. Camping mostly in Scotland, we inevitable encountered wind, rain and the dreaded awjaws (midges), the Carolina cope easily with all three, and we enjoyed looking out at the rain or watching the awjaws wreck havoc amongst the uninitiated. Looking forward to many trips in this tent in the years to come. (Only joking about the donkey!)

We have just spent 10 nights in Cornwall in our Carolina. Opening and closing the curtains is a nightmare unless you like crawling around the floor. The front door is a nightmare to open from outside as is the rear vent.

Good stability and held up well in a howling gale with driving rain.Rain does drive up under the bottom of the side door as you cannot use the velcro properly if you are using the cable port.

Bedroom only just fits our double height double bed and this renders all the pockets unusable.

Not as great as I would have expected for the price.

My husband and I have always been disappointed by the lack of room in most tents aimed at 2-4 persons but this one ticks all the boxes for two adults. This is the most stable tent in wind and rain we have ever owned. Loads of living space for those rainy days, head height brill OH is 6'1. Bedroom fine for two adults no more. Could accommodate 1 child but would be tight. Easy to pitch as we pitch in about 10 - 15 min. Newbies please watch the Outwell how to erect a tent on you-tube. Never was bothered about SIG but would now not have a tent without it. Only downside is the Outwell side porch. We have a horizon side porch instead and it is fantastic compared to the official Outwell one. Well worth the extra pennies to have a door as we found some people had to dismantle theres in heavy wind if no door fitted. Highly recommend this tent for 2 adults whether weekenders or weekly campers. Have posted tent with porch above. Rrp for porch £159 but can get it for around £120

Bought 2010 model which was sold as an offer. Pretty spacey. For this reason it is not easy to carry this tent. Set up of this tent is not so easy as many say. Needs two persons for a quick set up.

The zipper of the front door is much too high so I could not open the door from outside.

The sewn in ground sheet is one of the most advantages as it protects from any kind of insects. And even those sometimes awfully behaving small wild cats in Andalucia will not be able to enter.

A spacious sewn in tent, bought for a couple but easily sat 6 people in chairs with a table and cupboard unit also inside. A shelter from rain for everyone we camped with.(no puddles) A strong and simple design using 2 times set of large poles to hold up the sides well. Not tested in battering wind, however it should not be as noisy as the larger, Montana 6 on an exposed site. Great idea to have the option to open up the side panels especially if cooking or for warm days. Having always 'roughed it' in the past, this is a great upgrade and luxury that will hopefully last a lifetime.

I love this tent. Can find no negatives at all. Roomey and bright. Just camped through the wettest summer in Inverness ever, and we had no problems. Other campers were bailing out or there tents were letting in water through the roof. Not the Carolina M. We have the carpet and the extension which is great for cooking in and stops the rain getting in the door entrance if open. We have sat out gales in this tent and it stands firm and proud. Only thing we had a problem with was the extension gathers water over the side door on the tent seam. My husband fixed it though with a Heath Robinson invention.

Bought the Carolina last summer - have had five trips now and just love it. The first trip was to a windswept Devon - the tent danced around a bit in the gale but never took her feet off the ground (the sides bowed in and the noise was something else but Carolina was rock solid - and completely water tight).

We were sold on the height inside - being able to stand up without stooping (I'm 6' tall) was important to me. The sleep area is roomy (plenty big enough for two of us - 3 would be squeeze - and I can't see how I'd get that past Mrs Flamenco anyway). The living area is also roomy - plenty of space to sit inside if weather outside is horrid.

Setting up and taking down are straight forward. We added the side extension and I would urge prospective Carolinas to do the same - in wet conditions it allows you to go in and out without bringing the rain in with you. The front door slopes back and in the wet it was a pain trying to get in and out dryly!

The side extension is also big enough for the kitchen.

We spent quite a while checking out different tents at one of the outdoor shows and had almost plumped for one when we saw the Carolina - and even before going inside we knew this was going to be the one to beat. Closer inspection - and we were ticking all the boxes and marching off to hand over the dosh. No regrets whatever.

We were planning a trip through France and Spain, and whilst we had an Outwell Maryland, we wanted a Smaller tent for 1 night stops. We felt that the Small Tesco (Poland) 2 man dome tent we bought for about £15, would not handle the weather in March, which to be honest the amount of rain we had in the Cantabrian Mountains, we were probably right.

We then Decided to look for a more appropriate tent for the conditions we were expecting, and a Go Outdoors Flyer caught my eye, with the Outwell Caroline M on offer for about £149. Which I thought was a reasonable price, and we purchased one.

Whilst it is advertised as a 3 Man tent, I do not think the Sleeping compartment would really accommodate 3 Adults, or at best it would be very cramped, however it is a very generous sleeping compartment for 2. I must add that I am probably larger the most.

The Living Space is good, light and Airy, Ventilation is good and we did not suffer from condensation. We only used the side entrance and not the alternative at the end, but I feel it would be more useful in the summer months when you would naturally be spending more time in the tent.

I was very Impressed with the waterproofing of the tent, we had persistent heavy rain for 3 days, with 3 inches falling in about 12 hours. It appears to be a very stable tent, and for the majority of time we did not bother with the Guy Ropes, however when it did get blustery we used them as a precaution and held the tent firm. There was very little wind noise either.

As far as assembly goes, Whilst it is recommended that you put your tent up before you go so you are familiar with how it all goes together, we didn't :-) In addition, the first time we pitched the tent was at 10pm at night in the dark with limited illumination from car Headlights.

This in my opinion would give a good indication on how easy or not a tent is to assemble, and in this case, I would say that this is very easy, we managed to get the tent up and secure within about 20 - 30 mins on the first attempt. But subsequent erections takes about 10 - 15 mins. Decamping takes about the same sort of time. This is based on 2 people working together. However it probably would not take much longer erecting on your own.

Overall a Fantastic tent, and would highly recommend it.

Incidentally, we did not take our Maryland with us, and relied solely on this tent, which was more than suffice.
