For some reason I can't use my original account so had to setup a new one. Posting this review from Lowtrow Cross adult only campsite on the edge of Exmoor in Somerset. After an extremely windy (gales) night am pleased to report that our Clear lake has been fab. When we went to bed last night there were 7 tents in the field. When we got up this morning there were 3. A smallish Khyam, a Bear Lake 6 with extention and our clear lake. The owner of the bear lake said they were leaking like a sieve (but I think that might be a pitching issue as for some unknown reason he'd not pegged out all the guys or skirts on the tent!).

We just love our new tent and it's been fab during this Jubilee week away with horrendous weather. We've had 8 people in for a meal and drinks sitting round tables in the panorama room. We have cooked in the tent and run a hallogen tent heater and have had no condensation build up thanks to the excellent ventilation. Later in the evening we've moved from our 'kitchen diner' to our more cosy 'living room' at the back of the tent. On the one day where it wasn't raining we opened up all the doors at the front and back and enjoyed the sun. The hanging rails (3 on this tent) have been great for hanging wet coats and waterproof leggings (we have 2 dogs so have had to venture out in all weathers).

Hoping our next trip away (2 weeks of camping in 3 weeks time) allows us to test the tent in good weather too.

This is an initial review of our new Clear Lake which we bought last weekend and put up today. We're due to go away in it for a week in June so I'll update review after that with any new observations.

It's big (and we knew it would be). When we laid the footprint out to pitch it I thought 'oh it's not as big as I thought it was'. We then quickly realised the footprint is only for the main part of the tent not the panorama room and therefore is only about half the size of the actual tent.

We followed the pitching video and put all the poles through the sleeves, gathered them up then walked the tent out concertina style. It was quite heavy but we managed (although this might be more difficult on a windy day. You definitely couldn't pitch the tent with one of you. Felt very stable even when not fully pegged out.

The steel poles were easy to fit together and disassemble.

The large bathtub groundsheets and bedroom compartments fitted in well (smooth zips). I'm 5 ft 2 and couldn't reach the top bedroom hooks but my hubby who is just over 6 foot could do this.

Took us just over an hour to put up (not bad for the first time) and 35 minutes to take down.

Quality feels good - stitching looks solid. Ventilation is good with the panels over the windows, above the bedrooms and on the back entry door. Back entry door and main front door have flyscreens to allow you to close doors to keep dogs inside but still have air flow through.

Groundsheet in panorama room will lie flat to stop you tripping over it but also has clever 'dart' like sections you can gather in to continue the bathtub around the front. I'd imagine if you do this it would prevent the pooling of water in the front which I've heard people report about the display model at Camping World.

Yes this tent has a sloping front but in the pole bag there are 2 poles which allow you to support the front do or as a canopy so I'd imagine you could use those to prevent rain coming in to the front of the tent when you had the door open. Alternatively you could just pull the groundsheet back a bit.

It was a hot day today but it felt cool inside the tent with the vents open. All the windows also have velcro curtains. Panorama room is fab and will be great for sitting in on wet days. Almost the whole front zips and roles up to 'bring the outside in' as the Outwell videos will tell you.

2 hanging rails for the porch area and 1 for the bedroom/living area. 2 bedroom compartments which supposedly sleep 5 although this may be a squeeze. Plenty of room though for beds in the living area or front porch if you wanted to put up more people.

We have a ford galaxy and there are 2 of us and 2 dogs and this tent will take up a lot of room. If space in your car is at a premium you might need a trailer for this tent. There is a large bag for the canvas and another for the poles and groundsheet. Neither bags are trolley bags. We took the ground sheets out of the pole bag though because it made that bag too heavy and it felt liable to rip so have put these in another bag. Didn't have any trouble getting the canvas into the bag - just made sure doors were zipped up and folded it well to remove all air.

Tent looks classy and we're very pleased with our ebay purchase and looking forward to our first trip away.
