1 Reviews of the Dunecrest

By: Ratty  Reason: I've used one  Made in: 2023   Rating:

We used this on the back of a VW Caddy as it is too low to fit on the VWT5 and this was an excellent solution to creating much needed space when away for the weekend. The Caddy is great but is a squeeze for two people, especially when it rains.

It is easily put up starting with laying it out, pegging the corners and then inserting the poles. The awning then takes shape and from here we pegged it out and then backed the Caddy into place. It is attached to the van by throwing the straps over the front and we went all the way and pegged them to the ground. We did use sponges to protect the paintwork where it met the car but this is standard practice.

Once up it offers standing space with enough room for us, a couple of chairs and a small table. The windows offer great light meaning it wasn't dark and stuffy and the front roll up door way allows plenty of light and air to circulate.

The front door can also be held up using the poles, so this offers shelter from teh rain should you get the usual wet weather!

The groundsheet is excellent keeping the mud off and it is removable so you can keep the separate when packing it away to get that mud off it!

The height of the awning allowed the back door of the caddy to open so we had access straight in ensuring we didn't get wet after a good nights sleep.

We liked this awning and it great for those cheeky fishing nights, one-night stops, or touring trips where you need something quick to get up and down on a daily basis. Small, lightweight and easily to put up and pack away. A great bit of kit.
