1 Reviews of the Earth 5
By: Lauram Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2016 Rating:
A relatively seasoned camper we have had several tents in our time and currently own an Outwell Montana, and two Eurohike Tamars all of which are super. We bought this tent as an overnighter for a trip around Europe in Summer 2016. Now the design of the tent itself is pretty good, marketed as a 5 man tent, it is fine for 2 or 3 people anymore was too tight a squeeze so we used the Tamar for our eldest teenager. Very easy to put up and pitch (takes approx 15 mins) as an all in one with only the bucket ground sheet in the living area to have to attach separately. Essentially this tent offered great sleeping and living space for the money (we paid £119.99). Now to the downside and it is fundamental- it leaked on the first outing and I don't mean just the odd drip. Water poured in along the seams at the top of the side door in relatively light rain flooding the seating area. Fortunately we were travelling with a couple of DD Tarps and used one to cover the tent for the remainder of our month long trip. Sadly if a tent doesn't keep you dry, then no matter how much space you have to swing your cat, it isn't up to the job. Finally after a few months of intermittent correspondance, ,we have heard from the retailer, returned the tent and have been offered a full refund. Since our trip and whilst looking for a replacement overnight tent for summer 2017 I have noted various reviews posted since then all making the same comment so one must assume a design or manufacturing flaw, but unless you can be sure of dry weather stay clear of this tent.
