2 Reviews of the Florida 8
By: Chrisndebs Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2011 Rating:
We were looking to upgrade from our Hartford plus which has given excellent service but we wanted a slightly larger tent with extra room for our growing family. We had a visit to go outdoors last summer and they had a Florida 8 in there display the wife and I both liked the layout but at the time it was out of our price range.
At the start of this year we looked again and found the Florida 8 was no longer being produced and there were some great deal to be had so we ended up with the tent footprint and carpet for £580 after reading the review from Memories we decided to get the awning to add to the package so another £140 and we now have the complete outfit.
We used the tent for the first time this August and have not been disappointed it was great lots of room the bedrooms have ample space for a good double bed with room to get around , we had no need for the third bedroom on this trip so we took it down and it leaves a fantastic area large enough to swing a large cat lol , the awning turns this good tent into a great tent in our opinion most of our day to day stuff cooking etc. Was carried out in this space. Pitching and striking is a doddle even on our first go we were inside drinking tea within an hour ,So if you fancy a great looking tent with more room than you know what to do with keep a look out for a Florida 8 bargain .

After much looking around at many tents, we decided on the Florida 8 due to its perfect bedroom pod arrangement. When fully occupied the tent would be a bit busy so we bought the awning as well. We had such a good deal, tent carpet and footprint all in, the awning was bought separately at the same time.
Less than a week after delivery, pitched for the first time weekend of 23rd September 2011. Having looked at as many pitching videos as I could find - we actually used a bit of a combination! It went up easy, and striking was no problem either, it went straight back in the bag afterwards.
What to say? The 2 bedroom pods at the rear are x 3 each, so fit perfectly for 2, with room for storage. The separate double has not been used in anger, but looks like a double airbed would fit, not sure about storage room in there.
The awning is a great addition - although the tent itself has a canopy, the awning creates much more space. We found fitting the bathtub groundsheet a bit problematical, so will fit this prior to pegging out the awning next time.
All in all, perfect for our needs.
