Bought this as I wanted a tent that I could put up on my own (small and feeble when it comes to tent erection) to take 3 children away in, and it works! We have used this several times now over the past 2 years for 1 or 2 night stops for 2 adults and 3 children as it is so fast to pitch. It is cosy admittedly at night but we all fit in the 1 large bedroom, either on mats or using a double air bed for the children and then 2 single airbeds at the sides. The porch is great for a few bags overnight too. Unlike many other much bigger tents it never feels really stuffy at night so airflow is good.

Being a large circle when packed away it fits in our car boot, either under or on top of the parcel shelf (a large 7 seater citroen so large boot space). Being less than full standing height has also meant that it has withstood some strong winds in places better than our 6 berth tunnel tent would have done. Impressed with the Outwell quality too for a small pop up tent, internal pockets, windows, luminous guy lines etc, so as a result we have now purchased another Outwell, the Hartford XLP for long family camps, which is great too.

This is the smallest in my collection of Outwell tents and I bought it to act as a mobile travelodge, for quick overnighters. I couldn't have chosen better.

This tent is huge. I have two large children (12&13) but we don't feel cramped in there. The bedroom takes 3 full size sims (we have Outwell serenity) with a gap between or 4 roll mats/narrower sims and the porch area is big enough for all of our bags. We can also sit up in there with plenty of head room. Despite this, when it's packed up it sits perfectly in the bottom of the car boot (Octavia) and is no more then 5' deep so takes up very little room for its size.

The quality is exactly as you'd expect from Outwell and they've obviously put a lot of thought into the little extras. It's well ventilated, has large windows in the porch area and storage pockets in the bedroom.

So. The bit that puts a lot of people off pop-up tents. Packing away. Well it's easy when you know how. It's just the getting to know that's the interesting bit. My first attempt was in the back garden with the YouTube video on my phone for me to copy. It took about 10 viewings, 40 minutes and lots of swearing but I got there and, now I know what I'm doing, it takes less than 5 minutes. The size of it is the biggest challenge and manhandling it into the figure of 8 can be interesting. I've learned though that if it doesn't go first time it's best to rest my arms for a couple of minutes before I try again.

This isn't the type of tent I usually go for but for a quick pitch or an overnighter I really can't fault it.

I am in the same camp (excuse the pun) as the other reviewer, 'Yummy Mummy'. I am also a Mummy and also officially in love with this tent. We got it because our Outwell Bear Lake 6, bless its lovely bones, takes a bit more effort to put up. Very much worth it for stays of longer than a few nights but after a terrible year for the weather, with just one or two night windows in it sufficient to make us want to head off camping, we couldnt justify the effort of erecting the Bear Lake. So havent been able to get out camping as much as we wanted this year. We wanted something with a really fast pitching time for those shorter trips and also, we want to do some longer touring trips and wanted a tent which we could erect fast for one night stop overs. This tent is just brilliant. Never thought I would see the day I would say that about a tent you cannot stand up in but there you are, I have had my mind changed by the Fusion 400! We got it 4 weeks ago. We've been camping THREE times since!

You get it out of the bag, take the strap off, jiggle it a bit and POP! It is up! In go the pegs. Thats it. Under 3 minutes. Honestly. It has revolutionised our camping experience. With a toddler who just wants to 'help' with tent pitching (and then drives his dad crackers by really REALLY NOT helping at ALL and me crackers by chucking a tantrum at any attempts to dissuade or distract him from the aforementioned 'helping'. If you get my drift) the idea of bypassing all that stress with a tent you basically get out of the bag and chuck at the ground 'ready made' seemed too perfect to be real. Well, I guess that old saying about 'if it seems to good to be true, it probably is' is not always, well, true! We looked at some Quechua pop up pitching videos and, to be honest.Their 4 berth version is not really what I'd class as a pop up. More a tent which folds down to a circle. It has all sorts of extra pole threading and cord pulling and inserting spiggot A into flange B faffing about to erect it. Not so with the Outwell. This is genuinely as easy as it looks and is ready for you to pop in your mats and bedding, add your storage boxes and bingo! Sorted! My husband has this tent up and guyed before I have even got the sleeping mats and bags unrolled to put inside it! This means that both of us can set up the table and chairs, kitchen stuff etc in half the time. Happy family! We went camping this weekend just gone and decided to go at our sons bed time so he'd sleep on the way there and set up camp at 9pm, in the dark. That would give us a full days holiday the next day. I was nervous about it and would never have attempted it in the Bear Lake, but I need not have been worried. We rolled onto the pitch at 9pm. By 9.30, our son was all settled into the bed and we were sat outside the tent with a glass of wine in our hands. You cannot say fairer than that for a fast total set up time!

Ventilation throughput is good, with the flaps open both front and back and the mesh at floor level. Any condensation dried quickly the next morning.

Inside, rarely for a pop up, Outwell (quality design as you'd expect) have constructed a clever mesh ventilation system around the edges of the floor area with a sewn in polyester inner so that you do not get any condensation dripping onto you while also keeping out any tiny beasties. This inner tent also separates your sleeping space from the porch which is deceptively spacious. There are storage pockets in the sleeping area and even little roll-up 'curtains' on the front porch for extra light if you want it. There is a little lantern/torch hanging loop in the bedroom which is a nice touch. Luminous guy lines with handy velcro retainers complete the picture of perfection.

It is worth saying that both I and the hubby are tall (5ft 8 and over 6ft respectively) and we can very easily sit up and move around inside without banging our heads. Our 2 and half year old can walk around inside too, so he is happy.

We have Multimat Ice Camp sleeping mats which are wider than most so we can easily fit 3 side by side with space for a bag but with our mats, 4 would be tight. For most though, sleeping 4 might be ok for 2 adults and 2 kids sleeping mats but 4 adults would be very VERY cosy, but probably technically possible.

With regard to the fold down, yes, this is a bit of a knack but once you have got it, folding down is every bit as easy as putting it up. Watch as many videos as you can and have a really good practice in the garden and you'll soon get the 'feel' for what is right with folding it.

This Tent is amazing. Up in seconds. Takes about 5mins total to put up and fully peg in. Have had 3 adults in here but I think a 4th would mean being more than just friends. Have used in sub zero temps in February and lashing rain in April/May and the only sunny weekend in June although very windy and this thing performed wonderfully.

The only slight points about this tent that I can criticise is that the entrance area where the pole goes around the base of the tent is already showing wear so a better material would probably have been a wise choice and putting this tent away is an art form. Even after watching loads of you tube vids im still not 100% sure that I can remember how to put it away.

First time camping in a number of years and the first time camping with young children, we wanted a tent that took minimal effort to put up. Very impressed having used the Fusion 400 a few times now, taking less than 5 minutes to fully erect including pegging down the tent and guy lines. In wind and rain the tent has perfectly secure and waterproof to date although it has only been used from April to August this year. Folding down can be a bit tricky and I would concur with the other reviewer that youtube videos are essential to gain the knack, but once learned there are no real difficulties. The only criticism would be that whilst the tent is a 4 berth and fine for 2 adults and children, it would be distinctly snug for 4 adults.

I am officially in love. As you may see on my profile I have a few Outwell tents. The larger Montana for week long trips and a Jersey M popup. I have upgraded from the Jersey to this Fusion 400. I used it on my own at a festival and this was so roomy for a popup my friends were amazed. With two of us it is still fabulous. Unlike the old Jersey this has a porch so we can keep our bed dry as the Jersey let rain in on the end of the bed - that drove me mad. The tent is a bit tricky to pop down but there are some great videos on youtube and I looked at these well before going away. Using the videos I had the tent down in a couple of minutes on my own. Be careful though, the guy in the tent shop said folk had broken poles by not learning to take it down properly. So do look at the videos they REALLY help. The porch can hold a couple plastic boxes etc for food and such and can take wet gear too. The bedroom is classed for 4 so two folk have room for bags each side. A large colmans double airbed fits easily and the length is generous too- the old Jersey M did not easily take that despite being meant for 3 people. Its really good for weekends or touring as it is a good size and magically quick to put up/down. The 4000 hydrostatic head waterproofing is really effective too a nice touch in a small tent. I was dry in really heavy rain and wind. Outwell have clearly worked on this and it is so much better than the previous Jersey which is feeling abandoned in the garage now! Well worth the upgrade! Well done Outwell.It IS dearer than many popups around but really is worth the difference.
