1 Reviews of the Missouri River 3

By: Camping23  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2010   Rating:

Just tried the tent for the first time this weekend and very happy with it, looks pretty well made and felt like a nice place to be. More specifically;

Erection;

Fairly easy to put up though you'd struggle to do it on your own. The whole tent weighs just under 24kg so isn't especially light, though this is the penalty you pay for polycotton. We went for the optional footprint and this was useful in marking out the area of the tent in advance, sometimes hard to know exactly how much space it'll take up otherwise. Did find it a bit tricky to get the tent to be perfectly stretched out and straight but this always seems to be the case with other tents anyway.! Groundsheet zipped in easily.

Daytime use;

The polycotton material helped the tent feel cooler on what was a hot day and we left the interior curtains down to provide a bit of shade to the iside of the tent. We also used the included spike poles and guy lines to pitch the front door up as a porch, something I hadn't realised was a feature of the tent despite reading a fair few reviews before purchase - useful for getting air into the tent while the zipped mesh door keeps bugs out still. Vents at the back and sides also aided airflow.

Night use;

We spent the later part of the evening inside the porch once the weather cooled and were glad we bought the optional carpet, as it's far better to lie on than the plastic groundsheet and added more of a homely feel. We rolled up the curtains and enjoyed looking out at the night sky through the large windows, before rolling them back down again for the night. The sleeping compartment is snug and only suitable for two rather than three, though the high ceiling (standing height) helps it feel a lot more spacious and it's great to be able to stand up to get dressed in the morning.

Overall, the weather was fine and still so couldn't say anything about the resilience of the tent but it fet sturdy and comfortable. Only potential drawback is the slightly fiddly door due to the sloping nature of it, which may also let water into the porch if you open when it's raining.
