2 Reviews of the Montana 6P Front Extension
By: Delabane Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating:
Thought I would update my review for the Montana 6P Front Extension (2012). Used this over the recent May Bank Holiday, only this time we had it directly on the tent front, not on the Montana 6P Front Awning like last time.
Had a little bit more space due to having no mud valence, however the panoramic front, takes up about 2/3rds of the space in the extension.
I still say that Outwell should have designed this slightly longer as you have enough space for chairs (perhaps a small kitchen unit) but not much else that can remain fully under cover. We had the Windbreaker Lux on the front of this, and both did stand up to some very strong side winds. However to be safe we did take them down.
If you can only get this or the awning, I would recommend the awning as the front panels next to the door can be rolled back and the ground sheet removed so in affect it becomes an extension.

Purchased the Outwell Montana 6P Extension back in July but only got to use it last weekend. Even though we have the 6P Awning as well we purchased this so we can sit outside with a cover (we don’t always take awning on shorter trips).
With the new front design on the Montana 6P I think you get less space than last year’s model and I think Outwell should have made it slightly longer to account for this. You still have enough room for chairs, a table perhaps a small kitchen unit but I doubt you would get a picnic style bench and table under all of it.
We had this on the front of our Montana 6P Awning and as this has the mud valence, it leaves even less room. So this probably works best on just the front of the Montana 6P tent.
From what I can see this is the same at last year’s model it just simply has tinted windows. It’s easy to put up and take down. We took it down when the wind picked up and managed to fold it up from inside the Awning as it was raining.
