1 Reviews of the Newport L
By: Lurcher Luvva Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2013 Rating:
I pitch mine single-handed , it can be done with the inner attached ; but I found it harder to do in driving rain due to the extra weight . It's not a problem in the dry . I've taken the inner out now just in case it's raining next time I pitch it ; it's just a matter of using the toggles to attach it again .
The difference with the Newport compared with other tents is that it has an inner tent not just in the bedroom but throughout . No more condensation dripping on you in the living area ! It also makes it warmer .
Loads of ventilation options , and light . The front is virtually a full window , with various opening options . Handy for me to use like a 'stable door' and keep the dogs in .
The last trip away was a good test , with heavy driving rain , gale force winds and then finally sunshine . It handled the winds brilliantly , didn't move at all ; unlike one or two other tents on site .
I think it's heavier than the stats say , but that's due to the full size inner tent .
I'm a single female camper , just 5'4' and I can pitch it in under an hour usually .
If I could find a Newport M I'd get one as my weekend tent.
I gave it a 9 out of 10 because as a tunnel tent if you need to open the door in the rain it does come in because it hasn't got a 'porch' over the doors . But that also means in high winds it's more streamlined so it's no big problem .

Manufacturer's Description
The Newport L sleeps up to five in two bedrooms. It can be pitched outer first or all-in-one, and it comes with the Outwell Easy Pegging System so campers can quickly locate the right peg when needed. Pre-attached luminous guylines help keep things simple. The tent is made from our own Outtex® 3000 fabric in Treetop Green, with quality Duratec poles running through the weather-shedding flat pole sleeves. The Outwell Sealed Inner System ensures the tent remains draft and bug free and provides insulation. The Newport L features a side door with window and a separate window with vent above. All windows have toggle-up curtains. A ventilation door directly connects the inner with the outdoors, and the large front door has four zip sliders so that it can be opened each side or at the top as a vent.
Recommendation: Mid-range starter tent that provides superb protection from drafts and bugs while maintaining warmth.
