Well what can I say about this fantastic tent, we stay for 7 nights in Devon with our 2016 Outwell Vermont XLP, to start the tent is huge but for my husband & myself plus our 2 huskies it's just perfect.
This was our first time pitching & this took us best part of 2 hours ( but that was everything including beds, kitchen items, clothes and putting wine to chill).
We decided to go for this tent because if it rained we had a separate place to dry the dogs, we was very lucky we did not have a drop of rain for the whole week.
We used the built in wardrobe which came in very handy to change your clothes in without all the neighbours seeing. We had all the bedrooms open so we had plenty of space to walk around the bed without struggling.
The middle room is big enough to fit our two chairs, table & for comfort a two seater blow up sofa and still had plenty of room for the dogs to stretch out for the night.
We did feel that the front opening door could be better with a insect screen so we could leave the door open without the hastle of insects getting in.
The towel rails are a excellent idea and came in handy not just for towels. We feel the window with the Zips on are so much better than the Velcro ones that after a couple of uses starts to sag in the middle, these will not. The storage in the main part of the tent always come in useful.
This tent when pitched was not going anywhere, we felt safe and secure that if there was any rain/ wind or bad weather this tent would cope, we also purchased the roof protector for the Vermont and we used this with the silver side facing outwards to keep the tent cooler, this was easy enough to fit apart from the Velcro on the black side was left redundant with using it this way.
On the whole is this a fantastic amazing tent and one I would recommend to anyone.

We had had the Nevada XL and wanted something for a longer period away so we shopped around, and eventually chose this over the polycotton version due to weight. This has not disappointed at all. The size inside allows us to cook, eat, and sprawl without getting on each other's nerves. As there is only 3 of us + dogs we use the extra sleeping pod as either closet storage and open up the full lounge or the teenager brings a friend.
We find that we can get the tent up and pegged out in about 1-1.5hrs, depending on the ground. Having learned lessons with our previous Outwell tent, we didnt even bother with the plastic pegs (which are sitting pristinely in the peg bag) and invested in some heavy pegs and rock pegs. We also found tiny pegs useful for pegging out the rain flaps on the porch, as we always seem to end up in torrential rain! The lack of a rain protected entrance is a nuisance but we usually use the front entrance as rain drips are more annoying on carpet.
We find the carpet is essential and the roof protector really makes a difference to keeping the day's heat down.
We call this our portable holiday home, and with exception of a bathroom, (conveniently provided by campsites) bricks and mortar could not provide us with anything more. We would not use it for anything less than 3 days however, due to the time it takes to get set up.

Just come back from 8 nights in our new tent. The quality of this tent is excellent. Had a couple of nights of heavy rain but no drips or leaks. The downside, as others have said, is the sloping front with no rain canopy, so in wet weather the groundsheet gets soaked as you go in and out. Apart from that, it is perfect. We had plenty of room in the porch area for a table and chairs, cooking equipment, cupboard, and even stored the huge roof box from the car in there! The living area is huge, and the pale colour of the fabric makes it feel light and airy inside. The wardrobe is brilliant for hiding all the clutter, and the numerous storage pockets were also very handy. The towel rails are a fantastic idea. The zipped window blinds are quick and easy to use. So much better than the velcro ones we had on our old tent. The sleeping pods are a good size, and the little low down windows are an excellent idea, both for looking out to check the weather, or for ventilation during the night if it gets a bit stuffy.
The tent itself is easy to put up and take down, but pegging and unpegging the guy ropes takes ages. I guess that's the price you pay for having a huge tent! It will be a lot of effort if we go away for a couple of nights, but for an extended stay it was well worth it.

This is a great tent with plenty of space. Very handy having the wardrobe to hide all of the mess! Also, the separate area at the front is great as a kitchen area. We used it for the first time this weekend as a family of 4 and had plenty of space in the bedrooms for beds and luggage. Fairly easy to pitch.

We have used our Vermont XLP twice so far this year (2014). I bought it as a package in the 2013 end of season sale for £900 which included carpet and footprint. We are a family of 5 + dog and the tent fits us in well with plenty of room to spread out on rainy days. It is easy to pitch far more so than our old Hi-Gear Zenobia 6 with porch. We have had some pretty heavy rain while in it and never had so much of a drip. My only complaint is that it could do with a canopy over one of the side doors for wet weather entry as the rain comes in when you open the front door. Overall an excellent tent an I'm sure we will enjoy it for many years to come.

We've just had our first trip in our Vermont xlp & we love it, we can get it pitched fairly quickly, it's the pegging out that takes the time!
It's lovely & spacious (we're a family of 4) which we really appreciated as the weather was bad for the majority of our trip, so we ended up spending a fair amount of time in it!
We used the roof protector, which was excellent and we'd highly recommend, we also used a georgia 7P front awing on the front, it's an excellent fit and was invaluable for storing all of our wet 'stuff' and for using as our kitchen, as others have mentioned the sloping door is a downside, but having the front aiming on meant the main tent stayed nice & dry.
We found it easier to get back in it's bag than our previous hi gear tent, hopefully that's not a fluke!
Overall we're really pleased & are pleased we went for this tent.

WOW what a tent bought this when we were upgrading from our start up set up of a hi gear voyager 6
Did our research and finally settled on the Vermont xlp there is no other way of saying this
This tent is huge easily big enough for a family of 5 or 6 and sheer luxury for just us 2 we call it our travelling bungalow
The quality of the tent is the best I have seen and some of the innovative ideas are top class such as the weather windows in the bedroom pods the built in storage room and the hanging rails which I believe weren't included on the 2012 model.The wind stabiliser system is just awesome when this tents up its staying up we were at pentewan sands in June this year 50 meters from the beach and half way through the holiday the winds picked up 20 to 30 mph gusts and the tent didn't budge others around us either packed up early or tried to brave it out but there were quite a few damaged tents some mornings.After being in the tent just for a night or 2 you understand why these cost what they do and are worth every penny.
In my honest opinion this is the best polyester tent on the market at the minute in its size class.
Theres no getting around the fact that it can be a bit of a pig to pitch and pack away due to the size but its worth it.
There are only 2 things which I think are problems which why I have scored it 9 out of 10 the first one is
The easy pegging system
Plastic pegs for a tent this size is crazy mine are all still in their bag apart from the steel pegs for the 4 corners everything else we use rock pegs and there are a lot of them 56 if my memory serves me right.
The second thing is
The wheeled holdall the tent comes in don't even bother trying to get it back in its neigh on impossible we ended up getting a sack type holdall for an Outwell Nevada m the fly sheet just about fits in
All in all a top quality tent which will last a fair few years

This was an 'upgrade' from a Glendale 5, so we new what we were getting in terms of quality.
Tent is substantial and once up it's not going anywhere, pitching time was just under an hour and with some assistance with the middle poles it could easily have been a one man job if pegging the four corners first.
Windows are excellent and the zip means very quick opening and closing with no fuss. Ditched the wardrobe after the first night preferring extra space.
Draw backs have to be the Outwell pegs again, and getting the tent back into the bag was hard work, even after the inner bedrooms had been removed, it was tightly rolled and still an amazingly tight fit into the bag, at least it had wheels!

What can I say that others haven't a;ready said - this tent is an absolutely must for those who like space and comfort. There is only my husband and I but we like to have plenty of room and this tent provides it, laong with the security that in pretty strong winds and very heavy rain it will stand firm.
Pitching time with just the 2 of us is usually around and hour and a half to complete it properly but well worth the extra effort.
The drying rails were included in our package along with king poles both of which come in very handy.
The zip up windows are great allowing you to have as much privacy as you want and the wardrobe a good addition, which doesn't take anything away from the size of the lounge area.
The bedrooms are very versatile being able to have 1,2 or 3 bedrooms ( we usually have 2 of them into one bedroom and the other as an area for storage and the loo)
The panoramic room at the front is just lovely to sit in even when it is raining as you get full view of everything around you.
The only down side for me was having to buy the side extension (not enlcosed), and the reason we bought it was because in the rain if you are using the main door into the panoramic room, due to the shape of the tent (ie the front sloping) when you open it to come in it lets rain in.
In my opinion the side door needs to have some sort of 'overhang' to provide an area to come in and take off muddy shoes etc (or for my hubby who smokes, somewhere to have a cig without getting soaked) where you wont let the rain in with you. Although that said the addition of the side extension resolves that isse, but creates another with the overall width of the tent :-)
Love the ability to have the whole front opened up and the dividing door between the panoramic room and the lounge area can also be opened up in warm weather this allows for excellent ventilation.
All in all love the tent, wouldn't swap it! In fact we have just bought the Glendale 5 as a weekend tent as it is a similar layout to the XLP just on a little bit of a smaller scale.

After some searching we managed to get hold of this beauty at a fantastic price of £719 brand new.
We were amazed how easy it was to pitch, using the Gary Cross method, and took about 20 mins to actually get the poles in and then erected, but another hour to peg it properly and complete the guy ropes.
What a tent, it is like a marquee with so much room, 2 adults, 1 teenager and a dog so plenty of space. We easily had enough space for our 2 camp beds, with room to walk all the way round in one sleeping pod, and a king size air bed in the other.
The only let down and improvement is that there should be openings for the EHU on both sides, as there is only one, on the left which limits access into the front extension, as there is no opening from the living area into here, and we had to leave the zip open to form the gap, and an escape route for the dog!
The windows are all tinted and have the new zip up curtains which are very plush and easy to use, 2 great side doors with mesh doors too, vital to keep the bugs out for the breeze in.
The front door was great as we were able to open it completely and fold back the doors to form a canopy , as well use the king poles to make a canopy too.
The hanging poles are now included in the 2013 model, for hanging items in the extension.
The built in wardrobe was great and we used ours to hide the toilet.
When it became windy and rainy, the tent stood firm and the water just rain off, no pooling etc. And 7 of us sat comfortably playing games and watching the iPad ,in the living area, with 2 dogs and still plenty of room.
If you have the budget this tent is worthwhile the money, but shop around to get a deal like we did.
