4 Reviews of the Whitecove 5
By: John dev Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2017 Rating:
Having always bought Vango tents I decided to have a change when my Orchy 500 started to leak and fade, the whitcove 5 is a big upgrade in every way, easy to pitch in 30 mins and plenty of room for 4 adults , massive living space and plenty of air vents to keep out condensation, the front porch is a big bonus as you can keep the door open in the rain, im 6ft 2' and can stand up in the living area, overall a great tent at a decent price

We have bought Outwell tents for some time, and this one was not as good quality as previous ones. The finish on the internal fabrics was not up to the standard we have come to expect. And within the first year, we have now had three pole sections shatter, and wished we had stuck with metal poles as our last tent had. Outwell are also hard to get hold of for ongoing support, and just send you back to the retailer you bought it from, as their essential way of supporting you – which is not terrific really. I will look more closely at an Outwell tent in future before buying another. Having said all that, we really like the layout, there is plenty of living space, and the front mini-porch is a really good feature. It is fairly easy to put up, but I doubt if I could do it on my own. My wife and I have now got a system for doing it…. Once up, it all feels very solid. But getting it up in any kind of wind is tricky – that’s when you can easily break a pole section.

We bought this tent last year as a replacement for a Millets cheapy that we used to try camping with our young son (it's usually used for two adults and one child) and we are really pleased with it.
We use it mainly for long weekends and one of the main features that appealed to us as the flat front and small built in porch. Our old tent had a sloped front and meant that we had to keep shutting it for showers and it let water in when we opened it in the rain. The design on the Whitecove solves this - the porch is large enough to mean that, unless it is very windy, we can leave the front door open in the rain and feel less trapped inside. It also allows some space to get boots on and off.
It is really easy to pitch - I can do it easily on my own in around 45 mins (30mins if I'm trying to be fast!) and it's even easier with two.
The living space is a good size for us and it comfortably held 4 adults, 2 children and a wooden train set one evening.
We also bought the extension to give us some extra space for longer trips and with this we managed to shelter 15 people for a rainy day breakfast and it gave a lot of extra space that we might use for longer trips.
Overall, we are very pleased with the tent and would really recommend it to small families who want something quick and easy to pitch and practical to use.

Just purchased this tent as we currently have an Outwell Vermont which we love but isn't quite so practical for a quick weekend away due to size and weight. This tent is perfect for us a family of 4, 2 adults & 2 children, just pitched the tent in the back garden & it has the great Outwell quality to it, easy & quick to pitch with the colour coded poles. Plenty of space & the added benefit of the small front porch. I gave it 9 as I would have liked a slightly larger porch area but that's not a huge issue. You can also get an extension for this tent but for us we just want a tent that's quick & easy to be pitch so this suits us fine.
