A typical Outwell Tent.A well established manufacturer and always good quality and attention to detail is good.

I have always bought Outwell Tents and will continue to do so. They check every tent. I have never had a faulty one. The Duratek poles are light and easy to erect. I used to use Steel poles on Older model Outwell tents but very heavy. The next step will be to Airbeam Outwell Tents. Why? because I have seen cheaperAirbeam tents from other makes and the quality Outwell tent stands out, When I can afford it. Frank

This is a great tent with plenty of Fab features. It's the first family tent I've owned and the first time my husband has ever been camping, or our son for that matter. We bought it wanting a good quality family tent and although we've only used itm once so far it did great. We had torrential rain our first night and it stood up well. My husband can mostly pitch alone which is important as I'm disabled and a bit limited. The bedroom area is great but the divides aren't very substantial (especially when trying to convince a toddler its a separate room!). We ended up using it as one large room but its nice to think as the kids get older they could have their own room if they want. The main room is spacious and airy. It was quite warm when we were away but the air flows well so it cooled fast. We added am adventure tarp to the front as a small porch, not wanting the full one and that worked great (Vango adventure tarp for twenty quid). It stood up well to the wind and allowed cooking in the rain. The pockets on the divider aren't great. Ideal for light things but even little books get a bit heavy and distort the tent. But honestly I struggle to find problems with it. Great tent, excellent value and much better than the next model released as its replacement. Worth getting the carpet and footprint as a bundle if you can. Love this tent and can't wait to take it out again!

After many tents over and 40 years camping this is the best tent we have had for size and easy use for erection and dropping down. The footprint and carpet are best to buy bundled into the price. We use the bedroom as one large room as the dividers are a bit naff. The main area is well sized and the front porch cover is useful in British weather as it stops the rain from coming into the main tent and is an area to leave wellies etc in. In sunny weather it is useful for shading cool-boxes etc.

Downside

The mesh windows on both sides of the bedrooms can make it a little draughty and should have a curtains.

A toggle on one of the front curtains was missing and was supplied by the dealer for us to sew on!

Third time out one of the fibre-glass poles on the rear section was split and as it is NOT covered by the warranty we can fit a replacement ourselves or get it re-stringed at our cost. This is something to watch as it looks like a design flaw. The poles are stored in a dry storage and not in a cold or wet place either.

The latter problem has spoiled what is a pretty good tent

Used tent on 3 occasions last year and was very impressed with the space for our family of 4 and a dog. I am surprised that people are able to pitch it by themselves as my wife and I find it to be a 2 man job.

Had moderate rainfall last year which the tent stood up to no problem.

Just returned from a weekend at Shell Island where the tent did not do so well. Admittedly the wind was about 40mph (I think tent specs say is able to withstand 30 mph winds) and although we pitched it arse end into the wind it became obvious the poles were not up to the job. When the wind shifted around to the side of the tent we decided it was time to bale out at 2am in the morning into the car.

The whole experience was disappointing but we learnt a few things .

On the whole I think we were just unlucky with the weather and we still like the tent but next time we will look for a more sheltered spot, especially at Shell Island.

Fantastic amount of living space in this tent and front door doesn't slope inwards which can affect the feel of how much space you have. (This was why we favoured this tent over a Vango).

I am five foot three and can nearly pitch by myself though I needed my husband to raise the central pole. Thus there is plenty of head space. I recommend the crosscamping pitching method with this tent if you are pitching alone. You can YouTube this and even I who am very clumsy indeed could pitch first attempt.

Also recommend footprint as its a bit large to just throw in the car if sig is damp.

The only downside I can think of is that the partition flaps between rooms are very much just like a flap so you don't get total privacy if you were going with friends but fine for families.

Several people came to admire it and ask to look inside and I believe the blue colour looks very smart.

Held up well in moderate rain and wind (as I would expect really) but we haven't tried it in very bad weather.

I just got this tent and so far I've only pitched in the garden to test it out. Will be going away next week for a couple of days and the forecast doesn't look too good!

However, I'm pretty confident the whitecove 6 will stand up to some fairly heavy downpours. It does seem well put together and I'm happy with the various design features. Nice layout with the three sleeping pods which will work well for us with our two young kids kept apart at lights out. Lots of space in the living area and I'm a big fan of the porch canopy with sides which makes it easy to get in and out of the tent in the rain.

Rather than list the features it does have, I'll mention what it doesn't have compared to the more expensive models (being from the 'privilege' collection which is Outwell for entry level I think).

Firstly you don't get the colour coded plastic storm pegs that the Outwell youtube man is so excited about. Just normal metal ones. They might bend in hard ground a bit. No big deal, I have some decent pegs if the ground gets squidgy. Second, you don't get such a fancy bag with wheels on like a montana. It's a nice enough bag though, and very roomy for getting everything in.

Third, you get the 3000 HSS fabric, not the 4000 or above. Fabric still feels high quality and judging by how easily it traps air when you try to roll it away I'm expecting the performance in wet conditions to be fine.

Finally, fibreglass poles not steel or inflatable. They are ok. One spare pole section provided. I'm paranoid about them snapping so I'm handling with care. So far so good apart from one gripe (see below).

That's it. Everything else seems pretty much the same as any other Outwell and pretty good stuff.

Now the bad news. On my tent, the pole elastic snapped on one of the poles on it's first use. I repaired it and have ordered some spare elastic for future repairs. I believe for some reason Outwell are over tensioning the cord and also using a very thin gauge of elastic. It frays out so easily on the metal pole receptacle thingies. I now plan to rethread all the poles as needed with a better material and be a bit more generous with how much I use. It's not a problem I ever had before with much cheaper tents so was a bit disappointing.

I don't see the elastic problem as a deal-breaker, so I have just sucked it up and dealt with it, but I expect many consumers would drag their tents back to the dealer and start raging. I wanted just to contact Outwell to highlight the issue (which could be a one-off to be fair) but they don't have any obvious way to privately communicate with their customers. That's the other thing that's lacking from Outwell. Just an email address on their website. It'd be well worth it from a product development point of view.

In all though, I would buy again based on what I've seen so far. Hopefully my trip out in it will go well and I won't regret saying that.!
